Okay so I just finished Love Between Two Altars and I'm just sitting here thinking.
Because... what would you even do?
So it's about Samuel and Aminat. Samuel is Christian. Aminat is Muslim. Two people that really love each other. Like, not play play love. Real love.
But their families? Ah. War.
Samuel's family is like "No way. You can't marry a Muslim." Aminat's family is also like "Over our dead body. You can't marry a Christian.....Never!!!"
And it's not that theyy don't love each other.... They do. That's the painful part. The problem is everything around the love. Family, religion, tradition, whatt will peopple sayy.
Every time they try to move forward, somethingg pulls them back. One familly meetingg, one pastor, one Imam, one auntyy that says "have you forgootten who you are?"
I was watchingg and I kept askinng myself, can love really survvive this kind of preessure?
Because it's easy to say "love conquers all" when you are not the one inside it... But when your mother is cryingg, your father is threateningg, your church members are talkingg, your mosque people are disappointed... love starts to feel heavyy.
What I love about this movie is that they didn't make it look simple..... They didn't just do happy ending and everybody dances. They showed the real tension. The arguments. The sleepless nights. The "choose me or choose your family" kind of questions.
And the biggest question for me was - if you love someone, should you have to choose between them and your faith? Between them and your family?
I don't have answer o. That's why I'm asking you people.
This movie is not just love story. It's about sacrifice. About faith. About family. About what happens when two different worlds try to become one.
If you have watched it, tell me. What would YOU do if you were Samuel or Aminat? Would you fight for the love or would you let family win? 👀❤️
