True portraits are often captured in the most unexpected spaces. This shot is part of a photo session with my friend Rock Chocolate, an exceptionally talented independent artist from my hometown. She has an unapologetic personality and stays completely true to herself—in fact, she recently released a song titled "Sin Permiso" (Without Permission), and I encouraged her to use this photoshoot to promote it.
We randomly bumped into each other during a fashion event and decided to shoot right on the spot, hunting for the area with the best lighting. Artistically, I felt drawn to frame the composition as a reinterpretation of sacred iconography: evoking the image of a Virgin Mary or a saint. The round dispenser behind her head naturally forms a halo, while her downward gaze conveys a profound, saintly melancholy. The element representing her martyrdom is something completely mundane and far removed from divinity—a roll of toilet paper—creating a powerful contrast between the sacred and the raw human experience.
