A Miracle for Lorenzo* is a biography, a true story full of truth, reality, and nostalgia. As a mother, this movie really caught my attention. I watched it because my daughter had to write a report on it for college, so I took the opportunity to watch it with her, and since it captured my attention, I decided to bring it up here to share a little bit about it with you.
George Miller wrote this film in 1992. The lead actors are Nick Nolte and Susan Sarandon—who looked very young for the time the film was shot, given how well-known she is—well, both actors, actually. The film is based on the struggle for their son Lorenzo, who had a rare and little-known disease at the time: ALD.
At the time, there was still no cure for the disease, and the doctors were a bit secretive about what they were trying to achieve. Susan, the boy’s mother, devoted herself to her son day and night. The boy spent two years in a vegetative state; he could no longer swallow, so they had to suction him constantly. Those were hard times that only a mother can understand—to the point where nothing else mattered to her but her son and her faith that he would recover. These were defining moments for a mother and father burdened by mortgages as they searched for the best solution for their son.
The movie really moved me as a mother; it touches the very depths of your being and makes you think about what we as parents are capable of doing. We’ll do anything for our children, and we can achieve so much—even the unimaginable. I believe that mothers—well, good mothers—are willing to give their own lives for their children. I recommend this movie to mothers and fathers who are looking for something that will move them to their very core and who aren’t afraid to cry. It’s a somewhat older film, but it features a moving and authentic drama.

Un milagro para Lorenzo es una biografía, una historia de la vida real con mucha verdad, realidad y nostalgia, esta película como madre me llamó mucho la atención, vi esta película porque mi hija tenía que hacer un reporte de ella para la universidad, así que aproveche de verla junto a ella, y como capto mi atención aproveche de traerla aquí para compartir con ustedes un poco de la misma.
Quién escribió esta película fue George Miller en el año (1992), los actores principales son Nick Nolte, Susan Sarandon la cual se veía muy joven para la época que grabo la película ya que ella es muy reconocida, bueno ambos actores, la película se baso en la lucha por su hijo Lorenzo el cual tenía una enfermedad rara y poco conocida para la época la ALD.
Para la época aún no existía cura para la enfermedad y los médicos eran un poco herméticos en cuanto a decir lo que buscaban, ellos estaban probando varios experimentos y los mismos niños eran los conejillos de India por así decirlo, sin saber si funcionará, todos los niños que habían adquirido la enfermedad habían muerto, no había ni uno que sobreviviera.
Lorenzo también entró en uno de los experimentos pero en vez de mejorar o darle más calidad de vida era todo lo contrario igual empeoraba, los padres de Lorenzo comenzaron a estudiar en la biblioteca todos los libros que tenían que ver con la enfermedad y comenzaron a buscar desde porque sucedía, que afectaba a la Mielina y como se componía alimentos que la dañaba, comenzaron a estudiar de todo día y noche como si fueran médicos y llevaron conclusiones a los propios médicos de un aceite que podía ayudar a la recuperación de los niños, buscando que los médicos apoyaran y el mismo gobierno, pero como ellos no eran doctores no quisieron apoyarlos.
Susan la madre del niño se abocó a su hijo día y noche, el niño pasó dos años como un vegetal ya no deglutaba y tenían que estar aspirando, fueron tiempos duros pero que una madre solo entiende, al punto de que no le importaba más nada solo su hijo y la fe que tenía de que iba a sanar, momentos determinantes para una madre y un padre que tenían hipotecas encima buscando la mejor solución para su hijo.
La película logró conmoverme como madre, toca lo más profundo del ser, te lleva a pensar en que como padres podemos hacer.lo que sea por nuestros hijos, y que se puede lograr mucho hasta lo inimaginable, las madres creo que podemos dar nuestra propia vida por los hijos, bueno las buenas madres, recomiendo esta película a las madres y padres que están buscando algo que conmueva sus entrañas y que no teman poder llorar, es una película algo antigua pero que tiene un drama conmovedor y real.
