Weekend Experiences

spend the weekend cooking at home

Hello

How are you all?

Today, I'm back to greet my friends in the wonderful @weekendexperiences community. I hope we're all staying healthy.

This weekend, I started with a morning workout, followed by breakfast. Since I don't have anything else to do today, I decided to go fishing. It's been a while since I've been fishing because I've been so busy with work that I haven't had time for this hobby of mine. So, today was the perfect time for me. Without further ado, I grabbed my fishing gear and headed out.

After about an hour of fishing, I caught a large snakehead fish. However, since no other fish were willing to take my bait, I immediately went home. Forgive me for not bringing a camera to the fishing spot, so I can't show you the excitement of catching a big fish.

This fish weighed a kilo. I've weighed it. It's rare to catch a fish this big. I was very happy. Unfortunately, this happy moment was uncelebrated and received no praise from anyone because my wife was out of town.

I had to clean this fish. I was going to cut it up, remove the dirt, and remove the scales. I planned to grill it and eat it with this delicious soy sauce.

This is how I cleaned it. The scales were very hard, the teeth were sharp, and the bones were also hard, making it a bit difficult to clean. I was a little overwhelmed because I wasn't used to it. After a while, I finally finished the job and immediately washed it.

I'm not used to cooking and I don't know how to process snakehead fish. I was overwhelmed. I tried watching videos on social media and looking for ways to cook it. I found a video on how to cook snakehead fish that was simple and delicious, so I switched from grilling it to just cooking it. I also had to change my cutting style to thin slices.

This is the snakehead fish I'm going to cook. I followed this method from a snakehead fish cooking tutorial video. This is my first time cooking snakehead fish.

I kept the extra in the refrigerator. When I checked the seasonings, I realized I was missing some, so I had to go to the nearest shop to buy some. After that, I immediately went back to the kitchen like a chef. Oh, it turns out I have to cook rice first.

Oh, it was so hard to cook it all by myself, full of challenges. What an amazing weekend experience. Once all the fish traps were ready, I immediately prepared them: cutting the red chilies, peeling, and chopping the garlic and shallots.

I had to watch the video for every step so I didn't miss anything. Okay, I'll bring the water to a boil, then add the pieces of fish that I've marinated with some spices.

As directed, I added the fish pieces one by one and waited a moment for the flesh to firm up. Then, an incident occurred. The clear water turned white and foamy. I panicked and turned off the stove and removed the fish. Luckily, it was still safe.

Now I heated the oil and sautéed the spices I had prepared earlier. Once the aroma was released, I added the fish and added sweet soy sauce and oyster sauce.

I didn't cook it for long because I was afraid the fish would break. I thought I'd succeeded; it looked beautiful, but I was afraid to try it.

This is the result of my cooking today. I also made a refreshing drink earlier, which was perfect to serve with it. It turns out cooking at home on a weekend like this is fun, I'm happy.

Mealtime arrived, and it tasted truly delicious. I was very satisfied and ate a lot today. Snakehead fish, which is known for its fishy aroma, disappears when cooked like this. I succeeded. In conclusion, my weekend ended with cooking, and I feel like a great chef today.
