How long will the electricity problem in my country last?(eng-spn)

Greetings, it's a pleasure to be back in this community and to share something that has me slightly angry, and I don't think it's just me, but almost the entire country, except for the capital, because this situation is unacceptable there; the consequences would be catastrophic.

In the rest of the country, we suffer constant power outages that began years ago, but nothing has been done to resolve them. On the contrary, the situation has worsened; only temporary fixes have been implemented, and this serious electrical problem has not been solved. We have been suffering from power rationing throughout the country for more than eight years.

We are constantly bombarded with excuses to explain this situation; the excuses they give are completely absurd. Those who manage the electrical system insist on evading their responsibility with an endless list of excuses. They've told us everything: from an iguana, some swallows, or the sun shining directly on Venezuela, to the El Niño phenomenon, rains that "wet the power lines," or a supposed "Super Niño." They also blame alleged imperial sabotage, cyberattacks, earthquakes, terrorism, or, incredibly, the citizens themselves for owning appliances, consuming too much energy, or leaving a light on.

I feel frustrated, angry, stressed, and not only me, but also my children, the shopkeepers, the students, the ordinary people who deserve to live in a decent country. Electricity is a basic and vital right; citizens deserve real solutions, not absurd excuses.

It infuriates me that those responsible for this disaster, despite all the damage they've done to the country, have the nerve to tell us to save electricity when we don't even have anything to save. So, when they turn on the power, we're supposed to save it too? This is outrageous! We go up to 12 hours a day without electricity, and if they're really generous, they only cut it off for 6 hours. It's unheard of, it's criminal. I'm furious.

I have a hot dog stand where I work from Friday to Sunday, and sales have plummeted because the electricity is cut off until 11 pm on those days. It's a truly unsustainable situation.

All you say is true. We are tired but we don't see the light at the end of the tunnel.

  • This situation is horrible. I like to look at the different perspectives of each person in this situation, and I identify with each one.

Ugh, it's quite annoying and very bothersome every time the electricity goes out. I also want it to end soon.

I am so sorry you have to go through this. Going without power for up to 12 hours a day and being blamed for it is purely absurd. It's heartbreaking to hear how badly this is hitting your hot dog stand and your family. Citizens deserve dignity, working infrastructure, and accountability—not endless excuses. Sending you strength and solidarity.

Do they just not want to pay the money to improve the infrastructure?
