Hello people of Splinterlands! It's @zoe01 and today I would like to share another one of my recent Frontier Ranked battles. In my previous post, I shared a high mana battle with 72 mana cap and Super Sneak ruleset. This time, things were completely different because the battle gave us only 24 mana cap.
With only 24 mana, I had to be more careful with my choices because there was not enough mana to simply pick many expensive monsters, hehe. The ruleset also made the battle interesting because we had Ferocity, which means all units have Fury and deals double damage if the target has Taunt.
Battle Rules

- Mana Cap: 24
- Ruleset: Ferocity
- Available elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Life, Death & Dragon
This was a low mana battle compared to my previous match, so I knew that every mana point was going to be important.
The main challenge was Ferocity. All units had Fury, which means they could deal double damage when attacking a monster with Taunt. Because of this, I was thinking carefully about the kind of lineup my opponent might use.
There was no second or third modifier, so I could focus completely on the Ferocity ruleset and try to make a balanced lineup within the 24 mana cap.
Choosing My Team
As you can see mana is 24, I do not have the opportunity to use many monsters. I have to choose a team which could win even with less teammates.
I decided to go with my usual Death element because I am already comfortable using these monsters. My frontline should be able to take damages and my other monster could support as well.
Well, my opponent had ratings of 1,3020, and mine was already too low which was 1,120, so my place wasn't good. Because I have already lost so many matches and dropped to the lowest rating in silver III.
My Team

- Summoner: Thalgrimore (Debuffing enemy health right out of the gate)
- Position 1: Nim Guard Captain (Melee)
- Position 2: Spellmonger (No attack)
- Position 3: Vengeful Monk (Melee)
I was quite happy with this lineup because even though I had only 24 mana, I was able to use the monsters I wanted.
I placed Nim Guard Captain in the first position because I wanted him to be my main frontline. Behind him, I placed Spellmonger, while Vengeful Monk was in the last position.
I didn't have a full six monster lineup this time because the mana cap was too low, but I thought these three monsters could work well together.
The Ferocity ruleset was also something I had to keep in mind. Since all units had Fury, I didn't want to make a lineup that depended too much on Taunt. I just wanted my monsters to survive and keep dealing damage.
Battle Highlights

My opponent's lineup seemed pretty strong even though we only had 24 mana. He also went with a small lineup and used the available mana carefully.
Both teams were ready and I was curious to see how the Ferocity ruleset would affect the battle.
As the first round started, I was happy to see my lineup doing its job. Nim Guard Captain was able to stay in the frontline while the other monsters supported him.
The battle was not over very quickly and both sides were able to deal damage. Since we only had a few monsters on the field, every attack was important.
I was specially watching my frontline because if I lost Nim Guard Captain too early, it could become very difficult for the rest of my team to survive.
Round after round, my monsters continued fighting. I was happy that my lineup was able to stay together and deal enough damage to my opponent's monsters.

The battle finally went for 5 rounds before I managed to secure the victory.
I was really happy when I saw the VICTORY! screen. It was another close battle and getting the win against an opponent with a higher rating made it even better.
As you can see I have got +20 rating and my final rating became 1,140 in Silver III.

In just 5 rounds the battle was over. I was satisfied with my outcome. My opponent had a rating of 1,320, so winning against him felt nice, hehe.
Final Thoughts
This was another fun Frontier Ranked battle for me. The 24 mana cap made this match very different from my previous 72 mana battle because I had to be much more careful with my choices.
The Ferocity ruleset also made things interesting because every unit had Fury. To be honest, I didn't think what my opponent might build and at the same time I was worried if my monsters would survive till the end.
My favourite element is death you all know that so I went with my usual lineup, using Nim Guard Captain, Spellmonger and Vengeful Monk. Even though I only had three monsters, it was helpful to get the victory.
I'm glad everything worked well and I managed to win another ranked battle. The +20 rating was also a nice reward and it helped me continue my climb in Silver III.

After the battle, I also received +100 Sparks from the daily spin. It was not a huge amount, hehe, but I am always happy to get some extra Sparks that I can use in the Spark Shop.
Let's see how far can I get in Frontier Ranked battles and experimenting with different lineups. I hope that I can continue climbing and bring more interesting battles to share with you all.

Have you played a Ferocity battle recently? How do you usually build your team when the mana cap is low and every unit has Fury? I'd love to hear your strategies in the comments!
