If you are tracking action-comedies on scrobble.life, this 2026 live-action movie of Sakamoto Days is one that is worth checking out. I am not a huge anime fan, but a few series have really stuck with me — Bleach, Redo of Healer, Solo Leveling, Berserk, and now I decided to try the live-action movie version of Sakamoto Days.

Genre Action and Comedy.

Premise Taro Sakamoto was once the strongest and most feared hitman in Japan. Everyone in the criminal world either ran from him or looked up to him. One day he falls in love with a simple convenience store worker named Aoi. To be with her, he quits killing completely, gets married, has a daughter, gains weight, and opens his own quiet little store.

His peaceful new life is broken when his past returns. Old enemies and rival assassins put a huge bounty on his head. Now Sakamoto must protect his family and his new home without breaking the one promise he made to his wife: he will never kill anyone again. He still has all his old skills, but he has to use them carefully while living as a normal husband, father, and shop owner.

My Reviewed Story of the Movie. The movie starts by showing how powerful Sakamoto used to be. Then it jumps to the present, where he is a soft, overweight shop owner living a calm life with his wife Aoi and their young daughter Hana. He opens the store, talks to customers, plays with his daughter, and tries to stay out of trouble. That quiet life does not last long.

A young man named Shin appears. Shin can read minds and once trained under Sakamoto. After a messy first meeting, Shin ends up living and working at the store. Soon more people from the assassin world arrive. Some come to collect the bounty on Sakamoto’s head. Others are tired of violence and decide to join him.

A young woman named Lu (also called Xiaotan) becomes part of the group after escaping her own dangerous past. Together they form a strange but warm found family inside the convenience store. The story moves between peaceful everyday moments and sudden, creative fights. Sakamoto never kills, so he has to invent clever ways to win using normal objects around him.

As the story continues, the threats get bigger as powerful assassins target Sakamoto and the people he cares about. The fights become larger and more inventive, often happening in everyday places. At the same time, the movie keeps returning to the soft moments: family scenes, small jokes, and Sakamoto’s deep love for his wife and daughter. The overall story is easy to follow. It does not try to be complicated or overly deep. Its main strength is the balance between funny, over-the-top action and the simple feeling of a man who chose a quiet life and will do anything to protect it.

For the Scrobblelife Community. This is the 2026 live-action movie that came out in Japanese theaters in April 2026. It will start streaming worldwide on Prime Video from October 30, 2026.

And for the records. The Manga (original) started in November 2020 by Yuto Suzuki.

The Anime adaptation was aired in 2025 in two parts (together they form Season 1). Season 2 is planned for January 2027.

This Live-action movie was released in Japanese theaters in April 2026 and will stream worldwide on Prime Video from October 30, 2026. The manga is the original story. Both the anime and the movie are adaptations of it.

The movie is very accessible. You do not need to know anything about the original comic or the anime to enjoy it. The story is straightforward, the characters are easy to like, and the mix of action and humor works well for casual viewing.

My Final Thoughts for Scrobblelife The 2026 Sakamoto Days movie is a comfortable, entertaining watch. It is the kind of film you can put on after a long day and still feel good about logging. It does not demand deep thinking, but it rewards you with clever action, likeable characters, and a surprising amount of heart. If you enjoy stories about people trying to leave a dark past behind, or if you simply want something fun that mixes everyday life with exciting fights, this movie is worth adding to your list. It delivers solid entertainment that is easy to follow and hard not to enjoy.

Note: This is a review of the 2026 live-action movie, not the 2025 anime series.
