#palnet

Can a post that is produced on palnet.io or tagged with #palnet earn more USD in PAL than STEEM?

Apparently, the answer is 'yes' according to two comments I've read this morning which are displayed and linked below.

50/50 is fine. Palnet is doing a fine job of proving that. One of my recent posts earned more USD value in Palcoin than STEEM. That's only because more were willing to vote, so I received more votes, took a smaller percentage, but earned more, because of more votes. A very simple concept. source

This is true indeed as I have had the same experience. After all, a whale in Palnet.io could be a dolphin in steemit.com. I think every one should ensure that their posts appear on palnet.io. it is as simple as using the palnet tag. It is a win-win situation as far as I'm concerned. source

That's pretty flipping awesome isn't it?!

Authors such as @oldtimer, @edicted and @organduo have increased their stake massively in comparison to the airdropped amount, and if news like this is passed around, I can see more accounts upping their PAL stake too.

You see, if you don't self-vote with your Steem Power, why are you holding it?

I ask myself this a lot, particularly after friends tell me they are powering down because holding SP is of no benefit to them. I don't fully agree with this, but have a tough time arguing the point.

However, with PAL and 50/50, the risk of something shit receiving a flag, and 'nopal4u', the helsing of palnet waiting in the shadows, there does seem to be more benefit to holding a stake - particularly if you don't use much of it on yourself.

At present, there are 3985 accounts 'registered' (I'm not sure how you get to be on the list - perhaps an airdrop claim) but 'only' 1294 of these accounts hold any vested PAL. To earn a place in the top 50 PAL stake holders, and be able to issue around 2/3 PAL with a 100% vote will cost about 2000 STEEM - maybe less if you buy in smaller chunks and wait for the ASK to lower instead of chomping the whole lot at once.

2000 STEEM is about $820 this morning. Do you know how much it would cost to be the top 50 Steem Power account holder? About $150,000. I know which one suits my budget more.

Yesterday, 1212 unique accounts used the #palnet tag for a post or replied to a post with #palnet as the first tag.

Yesterday, 7659 unique accounts (not bloody individuals!) posted on Steem as a whole - 15.9% of these accounts are getting their PAL on.

I don't think the total will rise that much further in the short term though as many have collected their alt account air-dropped stake into one account. Funny that best efforts were made not to link accounts with transfers on Steem, and no effort was made on palnet. The best collection from alts I've seen thus far totals over 7000 PAL...

Anyway, not wanting to end this section on a bum-note, go palnet!

SteemDAO / EIP

Not that anyone asked, OK one person did, what my thoughts are on the proposed details of the next fork, but here is as good a place as any to write a little on this, in bullet-points perhaps.

  • Pretty scary that SteemDAO and EIP are potentially going to be rolled out together
  • SteemDAO was good for Bitshares, it should be good for Steem
  • A token 1%, half a %, something of a %, from (top 20) witness earnings going into the SteemDAO funding pot would have been a nice gesture for the 1 million users we have here 🤦
  • The 3 main components of the EIP (steemitblog, normie explanation) would have no positive effect on proceedings if put in place individually
  • Changing multiple variables at once usually leads to a failed experiment

In summary, I'm more in favour of the proposed changes than watching what has been happening here for the past year or two any longer.

Believe it or not @abh12345 I have some SP in cooldown at the moment and when it is out I am powering down to power up SPT and palnet. Both are incredibly intriguing to me (and I think the greatest underlying reason many people are going gangbusters after the tokens) in two words: A reset. And also on your point about making more in the altcoin value than steem...these new tokens continue to go up in value every single day while steem is treading water in the middle of a crypto rally. Sad time for steemit, but there are some things being created on the platform that are sewing up serious long term value for the user base if it's allowed without too much intervention from above.

I think so too, Steem DAO should be nice for Steem. EIP should be not that worse some people think. But who knows, we will see.

Thanks for sharing this insight. You know, using and reading about PALNet makes me feel like back in the days when I first started using Steemit. So much excitement and activity!

Really curious how things will be in let's say half a year (or even shorter like a month or so)!

  • @oivas(71)· 2626d

Dude, I am a bit confused about the Palnet stuff. I made my first post on Palnet but it is visible on the Steemit platform. I am getting upvotes in Steemit on the same post which I posted on Palnet, but not in PAL tokens..... Super confusing...

Can you shed some light? Also, how do you have upvotes happening here in Palnet? Is it similar to getting bots to vote you to get to the trending page? If so, which are the bots on Palnet?

  • @revisesociology(82)· 2626d

Or to give you another answer if you get 'PAL curated' you can earn three times as much on here - although that gets split 50-50 not 75-25.... I don't about you but working out halves compared to thirds does my head in.

I recognise all those PAL names, I assume they're following some sort of curation trail?

I've just tweaked my autovote to vote too on people I see getting high PAL payouts. I figure that's the way go. There was already quite an overlap which I guess is no real surprise.

We are Steemians and we are...??? palcoiners, palnians ? Just pals can be confused with the pal coin.

I am in favor of the changes, even though im new, I also think "Its Pretty Freakin Awesome!!" GO PALNET ! Awesome post @abh12345 upped , resteemed and still following ! 👌👍✌😎

    Greetings @abh12345, .....from bleujay/ bentleycapital

Thank you for such an informative post.

Yes.....you have Steemians talking......keep up the good work.

    Cheers!

Isn't the answer to question entirely dependent on how much PAL the people who vote for you have staked in relation to how much SP they have.

I did just have a look at my comment rewards to see if I could isolate what stake brings what reward....

@slobberchops who has a 2K ish PAL stake gave me 0.04 PAL reward, on Steem his vote weight gives me 0.03 cents, so with PAL at 0.3 ish Steem his current relative Steem to PAL weighting gives me around 2.5 times more in Steem than it does in PAL.

Looked at another way, that's something like a 30% bonus through PAL, so not bad for this one person.

    Capture.PNG.

It'll be different for everyone else voting me though!

I did just buy some PAL, and then remember I had some waiting for me in @self-track which I promptly sent over this way!

I like it here now. Just as long as no one mentions HF21 it's all good.

So ...have I missed something, does palnet have to be the first tag to earn PALcoins? I didn't think so, but now that you mentioned it, I'm wanting to be sure. XD

  • @organduo(73)· 2627d

Thanks for the shout out! By the way, I haven't powered down any SP to buy PAL, I used my own fiat money. I still believe that getting sufficient rewards in SBD is essential for my donations and contest prizes. Besides, if I powered down, people would get much less from my upvotes so I don't know if I should power down some SP to buy some PAL or not.

Seems like an I teresti g.set up and think I am going to take a chance on Palnet and see what happens. Thanks for sharing!

All this tech talk is making my head spin hahaha But yours of course makes a little more sense then some others I have been reading... so thank you for answering that one person who asked I do have concerns but nothing to do but wait and see what's on the other end if it is a go For now just stick to what I know best... create and curate ;p

    And YES to PAL :)

Yeah, 3 cheers for PAL :)

  • @enjar(79)· 2627d

Palnet has been rather fun. I even made it into trending on their for a few seconds the other day.

¿Huh? only 1 million users @abh12345? Are not 1,286,622 'users' instead?

Pretty scary that SteemDAO and EIP are potentially going to be rolled out together

Well, everything 'depends' you know? :)

  • @yogajill(67)· 2627d

Go Pal! Is there a way for me to stake my Steem for Pal? If yes, do you know how i would do that? Love your perspectives. Thank-you for showing up Asher 🌸🐞🌼

  • @blessed-girl(71)· 2627d

I have seen this phenomenon in my publications, I have received more votes in palnet than in steemit and I think, I hope that in steemit it was the same hahaha. Well, PALNET in so little time has taken a lot of ground, it has gone viral. A great project without a doubt.

  • @inertia(75)· 2627d

I ask myself this a lot, particularly after friends tell me they are powering down because holding SP is of no benefit to them. I don't fully agree with this, but have a tough time arguing the point.

Please try. I’m honestly curious, even if it’s just an argument from emotion.

Their exchange is like from the stone age if you ask me.

Oh, and thanks for shout out.

  • @fitinfun(72)· 2627d

This post wins the prize for being 100% over my head. I staked my tiny pal amount, and I am tagging all my steem posts with palnet and getting about 0.5 pal on each. It's a thrill for sure.

I will go in every so often and stake my additional pal. I am noticing the people I vote for on steem with auto-voting and manual, and most of them are not tagging their posts with palnet. But I mostly vote for little guys who do not even know this is happening.

As to the fork. I will see what happens when it gets here. There is only so much my feeble brain can handle.

  • @tj4real(69)· 2627d

Palnet has so far been a very good experiment. I love how things are going and it will only get much better

  • @nathen007(73)· 2627d

Another of Pal's massive benefits is that it has encouraged users to look both use and look at other tokens in Steem Engine. Creating our own Blockchain based markets can only be a positive thing for Steem and Crypto in general.

The thing that has turned me against this hardfork is the Steem DAO thing. Taking it directly and totally from the creators reward pot is wrong. Add to this the reduction to 50/50 model which I was in favour of and works in PAL then the hit becomes greater. Add more deductions if you post using a DApp that also takes a % nibbles a further lump off. This is going to discourage DApp use and discourage Devs to create more DApps knowing people will be less likely to use them.

This is a bit like UK politicians announcing spending cuts whilst awarding themselves pay rises!

I was in favour of the HF, not any more. I will not have any influence in this as I will not have any influence in the allocation of funds from the worker proposal fund so who cares about the posts and their explanations .Many of us also have zero influence on the top 20 witnesses so why bother voting for any of them? We don't even know most of them or where they stand on the issue but as it makes no difference anyway, that's fine too. The whole attempt at transparency and explaining to the masses is little more than paying us lip service. Most of them couldn't even be arsed completing the witness survey last year. That's the sort of contempt with which they hold users to.

Have a great weekend and try and keep dry :-)

  • @warpedpoetic(70)· 2627d

PAL is a welcome sight right now. The changes discussed in HF21 post that I have just read are worrisome especially the down vote part. As for the 50/50 curation reward, palnet.io is already ahead and I am quite comfortable with it. I have reason to get off my lazy butt and go do some good ole curation. I'll keep my hopes up.

  • @chekohler(76)· 2627d

Did you just bust the 50/50 myth? Damn you so many steemians are going to be butthurt when you say things like that!

  • @meesterboom(81)· 2627d

I'm in favour of the change too. Not ideal perhaps and the bundling of so many changes together is never ideal in the development arena but I am even softening on that given the frequency of hardforks. And yeah, a token sacrifice by our glorious witnesses would have been splendid!

    Go PAL!!
