It is an honor and a privilege to be buried there, at Arlington National Cemetery. To respect this final resting place, we should ensure all gravesites are dignified. But, I couldn't help but notice, that the "Old Man" - whoever he is, is so loved. So, so loved. Happy Birthday, Old Man, your girls love you!

I know that many people are sad when they see this; there is something sad about seeing a gravestone, but on the other side of the coin, when I walk through Arlington and see little signs of life, joy, the love STILL being shown and spread- it gives me chills... that is the depth of their love, respect or whatever else bonded them together. This festive red ribbon caught my eye and made my day. Oh, yes! - The Old Man is so loved!

Sidenote: This niche was six feet off the ground which meant that his girls, whoever they are has to use a ladder or crawl up on shoulders to affix this to the marker. So yes, all that effort makes this man special!

Early bird special on Mass this morning. The Basilica has 72 different alters... This is just one of them. It is always a surprise which one it will be at — at The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

It was one of those days where my heart is full. I will be surrounded by sibling love starting sometime this week until the New Year is done. Everyone will be here for Chrismas, but they will drift in and out as their schedules and work allow. I love this getting together that we do, family gatherings, the traditions carried out, and their meanings passed down to the younger ones. Family traditions give us all a feeling of belonging... Part of something bigger than yourself. I remember exactly what I love about life, just being - and inhaling the wonder of it all.

Whenever I come upon a smile in my day, it brightens even the lightest of days.

You can't have everything. But you can have a flower! And just like that, this post is over. Come back tomorrow and we'll do it all over again. Have a fabulous week ahead!
