Japanese Forest

We have been based in the tropics in the French West Indies now for a few weeks. More on that to come in the future. But all this heat and humidity has me dreaming of colder climates. Here is a shot of some incredibly deep powder in Hokaido, Japan . It was taken on a slackcountry snowboarding trip at Asahidake. The silence one experiences when in deep powder snow has to be experienced to be believed. The powder snow has an amazing sound damping effect. I have cracked over 3000 followers here on steem . While that might not sound like a lot compared to traditional social media platforms it is significant compared to the number of active users on the platform. Thanks again to everyone who has followed me since I joined almost two years ago. It certainly has been an interesting experiment in social economics if nothing else.

Haven't ever skied in powder quite that deep, but had the chance to hit powder up to my waist last year. I was amazed at how quiet it was, and smooth.

Man I am impressed with your life! Canada, Australia, Caribbean, just the most recent ones that I recall and not by your own. If ever anyone tell me that family bounds you to one place, I'll give your example :) And 3.000 steem followers is quite a number! I joined in, about 3-4 months after you and I just passed 500. (Not that I share such amazing content as you do, but just to compare numbers). Looking forward to find out about your French West Indies adventures!

Heh, been following you almost from the start. How deep was that snow?

My first reaction was brrrrr-errrrr-errrr… My second reaction was also brrrrrr! My third was dreaming of finding accommodations in Miami for the winter.

I'm not fond of that kind of deep winter, but it sure is beautiful and magical.

My feelings about the oncoming winter are expressed in my poem:

The winter is coming... It's always nice to go for a shoot into a winter forest after heavy snow
