The Peak / Der Gipfel

Each step gets you closer to the summit cross.

Jeder Schritt bringt dich näher an das Gipfelkreuz.

About three weeks ago I hiked to the Summit of the Hochstadel early in the morning. After some photos of the beautiful sunrise, which I have posted in the past days, and of which more will follow, today I would like to show pictures of the Summit Cross, which I have photographed in several places along the way.

Vor ungefähr zwei Wochen bin ich frühmorgens auf den Gipfel des Hochstadel gewandert. Nach einigen Fotos vom wunderschönen Sonnenaufgang, die ich in den vergangenen Tagen gepostet habe, und von denen noch weitere folgen werden, möchte ich heute Bilder vom Gipfelkreuz, welches ich an mehreren Stellen entlang des Weges fotografiert habe, zeigen.

Actually, the summit looks quite close when photographed with the telephoto lens. The normal walking time is with about 3 1/2 hours. I reached the peak a bit earlier 😉

Eigentlich schaut der Gipfel recht nahe aus, wenn man ihn mit dem Teleobjektiv fotografiert. Die normale Gehzeit ist mit ca 3 1/2 Stunden angeschrieben - ich war ein bisschen früher oben 😉

After about two thirds of the way you come to a small meadow, from which you can already see the summit cross.

Nach etwa zwei Drittel des Weges kommt man auf eine kleine Wiese, von welcher man bereits das Gipfelkreuz erkennen kann.

The closer you get, the closer the summit seems to be, but in the mountains the view can sometimes fool you.

Je näher man kommt, desto näher scheint auch der Gipfel zu kommen, aber in den Bergen kann der Blick manchmal auch täuschen.

After about another hour, the summit cross is already within reach ...

Nach einer guten weiteren Stunde ist das Gipfelkreuz bereits zum Greifen nahe ...

... and eventually you finally reach your destination - you are on the summit.

... und schließlich kommt man dann auch irgendwann mal an das Ziel - der Gipfel ist erreicht.

Finally, one more photo of the summit cross in the backlight of the just risen sun.

The text on the cross reads: Den Gefallenen 1914/18 - 1939/45 - the summit cross is dedicated to the fallen of the two world wars.

Der Text auf dem Kreuz lautet: Den Gefallenen 1914/18 - 1939/45 - das Gipfelkreuz ist den Gefallenen der zwei Weltkriege gewidmet.

Except for the two shots backlit by the morning sun, which I photographed first, the photos were taken in reverse order on the way down from the summit into the valley, because it was still pitch dark during the hike up to the summit.

Bis auf die beiden Gegenlichtaufnahmen, welche ich zuerst fotografiert habe, sind die Fotos in umgekehrter Reihenfolge auf dem Weg vom Gipfel hinunter ins Tal entstanden, weil es bei der Wanderung auf den Gipfel noch stockdunkel gewesen ist.

Great to see the Cross and the idea of the trek to get there with it in the distance, and I do remember from my Hikes up Mountains the distance can be so deceiving, can almost one !DERANGED when you read a peak when you think your at the peak and see its just one littlle peak with a long way to go
