Crustacean Photography Contest: 25 SBI shares and upvotes in prizes!

Hi there my Steemian friends and followers!

Following the success of the Insect Photography Contest and the Reptile Photography Contest that I have hosted here on my blog, I am coming with another big photo challenge dedicated to animals today.

This time around, we will take a closer look at... CRUSTACEANS!

Crustaceans are a large arthropod taxon that includes many familiar creatures such as crabs, shrimps, crayfish, langustas and lobsters as well as some less known animals like barnacles and woodlice.

I know this is not the easiest animal photo contest but I only host these specifically themed photo challenges once a month so hopefully, the response will be as great as it was with those insect and lizard photos :)

To give you some inspiration, let me show you a bunch of random crustacean photos that I have taken at different places during my travels.

As for the format of the photo contest, it will be same as before. There will be 5 winners who will get 5 SBI shares each from me and there will also be 5 runners-up who will get my full upvotes on their entries, which means that as many as 10 participants will be rewarded.

The rules also remain unchanged and simple:

1) Only 1 entry (photo) per person. 2) Only your own photo. 3) Add a short description to the photo (at least 20 words please).

Upvotes and resteems are not required but will be appreciated of course since I am, as always, funding the prizes from my own pocket.

As I am expecting a great response to the contest again, I might ask some new participants to prove their ownership of the submitted entries in case of doubt to keep the contest as fair and honest as possible.

this is probably the only CRUSTACEAN I have shoot... they are not inhabitating the places where I live or travel.... pretty sadly, as I love them very much. probably it is not as good, as other shots, for example as @hangin's one... but I have what I have, and cant give more :) love to participate, as always. cheerio! !BEER

I saw these small crustaceans at Whiteheaven beach in Australia, there were hundreds if not thousands of them on the beach!

These colorful crabs were the first animals I saw when I arrived in the Galapagos Islands (Ecuador). They are everywhere and it is impossible not to see them on the black stones that are in almost all the geography of these beautiful islands.

Damn! Such a cool contest but this time I really need to pass. I don't have a single picture of a crustacean. I'll take some as soon as I have the chance to. Oh and thanks for learning almost all of us a new word "crustacean" hahahah :D

The Baby Crab

Using my HUAWEI Y9 mobile phone camera, I took a picture with this baby crab passing by my foot while I had a smimming time in Red Sea Jizan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was high tide and I saw a lot of sea creatures..After taking the picture I set him free to live longer. People here don't eat crabs and we, Filipinos are so happy for that. It is so cheap here compared to Philippines market.

So my entry will be this lobster with his offspring swimming all around him. I photographed him in the Netherlands while diving. Depending on the time of the year you can find a lot of lobsters sitting around in their caves or at night even wandering around the reef.

This is my entry check this out. I don't know the real name of this seashell but there are more here in the Philippines. We called this in Visaya word ''BUWAWO'' I don't know what this called in your place.

I found this animal at the yard when I woukd sweep the dry leaves. I thought it was a snail at first. But finally I know it. We call it KELOMANG. I take my smartphone and take the picture

Crustacean Photography Contest - The Blue Crab of Dalyan

Honestly speaking since there are no crabs in Baltic Sea I didn't have any good chance to make any decent shot of any Crustacean yet.. even during trips. But going through archives still found this pretty simple, but interesting photo done while travelling with a small boat in Dalyan, Turkey. This is famous Blue Crab which really looks like some kind of jewelry and even fits too much the dress :D

Most probably my next travelfeed post will be about this particular journey. So stay tuned :)

My entry This little friend tries to sting me with his sharp tongs when I try to take this photo luckily I do not spike, Well this little friend is found in the rivers and caverns of Serrania del Turimiquiri, Sucre state in Venezuela

Hi @phortun i have been meaning to enter your contest so many times but some how i keep missing it due to my busy work schedule but i am not going to miss this one because i want to introduce to you this huge Fiddler Crab that was chasing me along the beach of Western Australia in the Kimberly ranges when i was visiting the waterfalls and red cliffs he finally stood still so i could get a shot of him but still keeping his guard up was a funny event...lol :)

Svinka. Člověk by řekl, malý, drobný hmyz. Ale ve skutečnosti se jedná o korýše, žijícího ve stínu, pod kameny a na vlhkých místech. Živí se tlejícími těly živočichů. Je jako návštěva z pravěku, připomíná nám dávného trilobita... A hlavně, raka bych tu možná našel, ale jsou u nás dost vzácní ;)

Armadillidium. One would say small, tiny insects. But in fact, they are crustaceans living in the shade, under the stones and in damp places. They feed on rotting bodies of animals. It's like a visit from prehistoric times, reminding us of an ancient trilobite ... And most of all, I might find a crayfish here, but they are quite rare with us;)

The mentioned family of animals is not only very interesting but also very delicious. Therefor, I want to show you this amazing dish with homemade pasta. I ate it during my vacation at Sardinia and it was outstanding. I do not want to offend anyone by posting this!

Thank you again for tagging me, and for organizing another cool contest! That first photo is great; I could swear I have photos of hermit crabs somewhere, but can't recall! Nevertheless, I have a couple of decent crustacean photos :) This one was taken in Cambodja, in one of the small islands near Sihanoukville. We were enjoying a day trip in the secluded beaches, and this little guy showed up. He didn't stayed for long, but didn't seem troubled with the photos either!

I met this handsome boy in Qbajjar bay, Malta. Small sandy beach about 15 minutes walk from Marsalforn in the direction of Zebbug. Isn't he cute?😍

Euastacus sulcatus or the Lamington Spiny Crayfish can be found in the Lamington and Springbrook Nationalpark in Queensland Australia. Often found walking on rainforest tracks after rain. If encountered can be very aggressive waving its claws back over its head and hissing audibly. Can deliver a painful nip if handled.
