Mono or Color

This is a post for Monochrome Monday hosted by @old-guy-photos, but as the title may suggest I am cheating a little, or maybe not cheating but veering off from it being just a monochrome post, as I had this shot I edited on the weekend and I did a Mono and a color version and I couldn't decide which one I preferred, so I would love if you have time to take a look at them both and let me know which one you prefer,

Since I am using the Monochrome Monday Tag let me share the mono version first

This shot was taken one morning as the sun was rising at Wildermeer Beach here in Milford, as I have shown in a previous post this beach has many of this worn structures along the beach and I find them cool to include in shots ass the sun is rising, and have edited most of them in color, but I decided to try this one in color and I quite like it, I think the sun stars stand out more and the wooden structure also looks better in Mono.

However, I also do love the color version maybe just for the colors and moodiness of the sky and hence why I decided to share both versions in this post.

They are both outstanding! Totally different in gorgeousness... :D I think they bring different elements to the table, therefore should not be judged together... That's my version and I'm sticking to it anyway! Lol....

I like the color one. The blue and yellow add additional contrast to the shadow. Did you take a look at a somewhat de-saturated version? That might be interesting, too. I really like the lens flare off the reflected light, with the sun hidden behind the wooden beam. It almost makes it look as if the sun fell on the ground.

They both have parts to like, but amazingly, I think the mono has more impact.

I have read the word apocalyptic in the comments, and I agree, but my first thought was that it could be from an old Western movie - I love the monochrome version - it looks so !DERANGED beautiful 😊 The colors of the are really great, but the monochrome is outstanding.

I prefer the color version. You really made the colors pot, and I can still see the sunburst. It is the colors that make me prefer it. The mono-chrome one is a good picture, but I think the colors look and bring more drama to the picture. The colorization on the sand really makes the whole picture pop for me.

Each creates a different mood for me. When I first glance at the first edit, I see crosses and desolation. The color edit suggests the sun rising on a new day, hopeful and warm. You picked a nice foreground to frame the sun.

I think it is pretty awesome how easily you can make a photo mono these days. I am sure the computer converting it doesn't get the tones and shades exactly right, but it is still pretty impressive.
