Located in a large clearing,
easily accessible from Szklarska Poręba by e-bike. Orle stands on the site of the former Carlsthal glassworks settlement, founded in 1754 by the Preussler family. For over a hundred years, a glassworks operated here, and life revolved around it for the entire settlement - the glassworkers lived here, there was an inn, and the glass, known far beyond the Jizera Mountains, was transported from the mountains.
The building we associate with the shelter today was built around 1860 as the glassworks' administration building. It is constructed of hewn stone with characteristic clinker brick details. A small bell tower, which once announced the beginning of work for the glassworkers and helped hikers find their way in the fog, remains above the entrance.

Orle stoi w miejscu dawnej osady hutniczej Carlsthal, założonej w 1754 roku przez rodzinę Preusslerów. Przez ponad sto lat działała tu huta szkła, wokół której toczyło się życie całej osady. Mieszkali tu hutnicy, działała gospoda, a z gór wywożono szkło znane daleko poza Izerami.
Budynek powstał około 1860 roku jako administracja huty. Zbudowano go z ciosanego kamienia, z charakterystycznymi detalami z cegły klinkierowej. Nad wejściem zachowała się wieżyczka z dzwonem, który niegdyś oznajmiał początek pracy hutnikom i pomagał wędrowcom odnaleźć drogę podczas mgły.
