After enjoying the first book more than I expected, I’m happy to say that Caught Up didn’t disappoint either. Seeing Josh and Aly from the sidelines was a nice touch, but this time the spotlight was on Junior, a character I honestly disliked in the first book. After a little break from Freida McFadden, The Locked Door reminded me why I keep coming back to her books. While I noticed a few familiar elements from her previous novels, the story and plot twists still kept me guessing until the very end. It’s exactly the kind of thriller that had me reading late into the night just to find out what happened next. If you enjoy crime and psychological thrillers, Freida McFadden remains one of those authors who rarely disappoints and she's always a great cure for a reading slump.

I think this book is one of the most well-known and widely read. I remember being 17 when I finally managed to buy it at a used book sale. There I found the hardcover edition with beautiful photos that I still have, which I devoured while riding in the van that took about 45 minutes to get home from school. After that, I returned to it many more times, but with more leisurely readings. I truly enjoyed its company.

Not only that might provide a different perspective you haven't really thought about, but it often ends up making you feel understood and like you are reading a long message from a friend you didn't realize you had by your side. Hence why reading Confidence didn't really bring lots of new advice one could properly apply in his/her life, but actually put in order thoughts we all had at one point but didn't pay enough attention to these and the power they all build if making the right steps. Despite having an intuition for most part of the story, all details made it feel anything but boring and the author did a great job turning things upside down by the end of the book, with a fantastic plot twist. I really enjoyed the badass attitude of Nell and how nicely she kept rising after all she got through, and no doubts the love story turned out to be anything but the common ones we are all used to.

Despite being very impressed with the first volume, I wouldn't lie by saying that I didn't begin reading Enchantra with a sense of scepticism, thinking that not much could happen anymore with the dark romance storyline. However, I ended up being surprised in a nice way with an even stronger volume that I enjoyed more than the first, the story focusing on a whole new environment and mix of emotions. It's impressive how Kaylie managed to create a continuation of the 1st story, which already felt like giving its best.

Compared with other dark romance books I've read, the story of Gabriel Wolfe and that of Brinley Beaumont start on separate paths, almost showing two separate stories before they have their paths crossed. What was the actual thing that made me purchase the book almost right away, though, was having the main character of the story named Gabriel (while I am Gabriela, lol) Wolfe (while my gamertag was wolfie for at least 10 years now, lol). Nevertheless, it involves wolves and motorcycles, two other big passions of mine, so I definitely felt like this was one of the books that I hade to purchase

Hence, I am happy that I got the chance to begin another month with another book written by Lauren Gilmore, where I got a new perspective on two more protagonists of the Dream Harbor village, where most of her books are focusing on. Although at first everything seemed a bit too similar to the rest of the books, I was happy to see things getting new twists along the way and also approach a different story from what I've read before. Not to mention, this was one of the coziest books I ended up reading in December.

This was a book that began quite seriously with a hand-drawn map of the place where the action takes place, because there are plenty of important mentions and characters. Happily, each character was described very well, hence why I had already projected in my head all the information once it was fully shared, but it felt nice to have a safe space to return to whenever I needed extra clarification. Once the introduction of the characters ended, just like Stephen King said, the real challenge started, where it felt impossible to put away the book from your hands.

This was my 5th read from Freida, and I'm honestly shocked. I am not sure where this woman gets all the ideas for the thriller books she releases, but this one felt like a soft read for most of the part until the last 100 pages that proved wrong. Reading The Teacher takes you on a ride where every second gets you in a whole new mood, and it's in my top 3 favourite reads from her so far.

Long story short, I decided it was finally time to give some new authors a chance and appreciate their storytelling as well. And this book (which has an amazing cover design, btw) instantly won me over. I'm actually already searching for more titles by Jeneva Rose. Beyond the crime that drives the plot, the book made me both start and finish reading in tears, which isn't easy to happen, but I think that's how you know a book was truly good. Romance, drama, addiction, and family are just a few of the key elements woven into the story, and I think each of us can find something relatable in this

this felt like such a perfect book for the current time of the year. Halloween, pumpkins, latte, rains, autumn, and a lot of coziness. The typical love story that comes with laughter, frustration and a bit of spiciness, but which I can't complain about as I love having a bit of eroticism in my reads lol.

It's funny how even if it stays as my favourite book from this trilogy, I find it the most difficult to pick my words when writing the review without revealing any spoilers, but I strongly believe everyone should read this, whether you are into thriller & crime books or not.

This one was, actually, my first read from Freida back in August after hearing a lot of good things about this author, but having no idea about her writing style, which is, by the way, so easy to fall in love with. All the plot twists are insane, and Don't Lie is such a rollercoaster of emotions and situations, making you be convinced you figured out who the bad guy is, until... surprise! The ending is nothing like what you could ever have thought about. I'd happily read this book all over again.

Anyway, The Inmate was another masterpiece from Freida. A whole rollercoaster from start to finish, with a crazy start that makes you think you finally know who's the bad guy, but then you remember you read one of Freida's masterpieces, where no matter how much you try, you'll never guess right. And that it's being proven quite a few times throughout the book. Loved it.

But now that I finally read it, I can say that it was fully worth it. This has been a very intense read. Actually, I think it's one of the most graphic books I've read of this kind, and I've read plenty of thriller/police/crime books before. With a little trigger warning that there are plenty of details given on each crime that takes place in this book, I believe it's definitely an interesting read for fans of these genres. There is no way to get bored along the way, but rather keep you on the edge of your seat to find out what happens next. I can't wait to have the 2nd book translated and rel

At first it seemed like too much fantasy for my taste, with a lot of terms I wasn't familiar with, but as soon as the action started, I couldn't let it go of my hands for too long. Reading fantasy books happens quite often in my life, but Phantasma felt so different from what I've read before, exceeding all my expectations with its crazy twists and rich world-building.

This was a book that started with a little déjà vu if you've read The Housemaid series and Don't Lie, which then evolved into the feeling of knowing who the bad guy is, but still managed to keep you on the edge of your seat, concluding with lots of crazy twists and turns just as Freida made us get used to. Despite being a fan of this author and reading lots of books written by her, it never stops surprising me with how unexpectedly these stories always end, still thinking where all the creativity comes from since each book has its own storyline and there are really, not just a few books

Fortunately, it turned out that I couldn't be more wrong on my presumption of expecting some stories to be on repeat from the first book, because The Reaper surprised me in all possible ways and kept me more curious than ever. Loved all the unexpected twists, and it finally made me understand why this series was all over BookTok.

Despite its cheap price, it turned into a relaxing read with the story of a young girl who faces lots of racial challenges as well as situations caused by being HIV-positive, which is often misunderstood by people. The book has only around 250 pages, and even if it's a pretty basic story with not too many twists, it still managed to avoid becoming a boring read, which I am grateful for.
