That's part of what you get from a movie that came out this year and is already available on different platforms. Missing: a successfully developed idea that meets expectations?

Eso es parte de lo que te deja una película que vio la luz éste año y ya disponible en diferentes plataformas. Missing: una idea desarrollada satisfactoriamente que ¿cumple con las expectativas?
Will Merrick and Nick Johnson ventured into directing this film, which they also wrote. The theme is simple. A mother (Nia Long) disappears on her recent trip to Colombia. Her daughter (Storm Reid) sets out on her own particular search guided by suspicion and a sense of logic, which she uses to use the technological tools she knows how to handle very well. The format is the one we have known for a few years now, where viewers are locked to the screens of electronic devices, mobile or not, to make us see what the characters see, read, hear, transmit, schedule and other things we can do virtually. If you are thinking about the movie Searching of 2018 you have hit the nail on the head, in view of the fact that this is a sequel. It is worth noting that it is not a continuation, nor are they related to each other (except for a fictionalized version of the first one that you can see in the latter). So you can watch them in any order.
Will Merrick y Nick Johnson se aventuraron a dirigir ésta película que también escribieron. La temática es sencilla. Una madre (Nia Long) desaparece en su reciente viaje a Colombia. Su hija (Storm Reid) emprende su búsqueda particular guiada por la sospecha y el sentido de la lógica, que le sirven para usar las herramientas tecnológicas que sabe manejar muy bien. ¿Una habilidad que se cultiva usando las redes sociales?😜
El formato es el que conocemos desde hace unos años atrás, donde los espectadores somos encerrados a las pantallas de dispositivos electrónicos, móviles o no, para hacernos ver lo que los personajes ven, leen, escuchan, transmiten, agendan y demás cosas que podemos hacer virtualmente. Si estas pensando en la película Searching de 2018 has dado en el clavo, en vista de que ésta es una segunda parte. Cabe destacar de que no es una continuación, ni tienen relación entre sí (excepto por una versión ficcionada de la primera que puedes ver en ésta última). De modo que puedes verlas en indistinto orden.
Fortunately, it's a film that keeps its plot line simple: you never lose sight of the fact that we're looking for June's mother (young Storm Reid's character). It's possible that the viewer's logic will have us talking to the screen, as if June can hear our suggestions of what she should be doing on her personal computer. It is even very likely that at some point we have done some of the things the main character does, obviously not to find our missing mother. Although some of the things she does may seem too basic or useless, come on! She's an 18 year old who hasn't even started a career in criminalistics. Also, I'm not sure if the direction and script are precisely looking for you to go ahead and draw your own conclusions.
It's not that big of a horror or suspense film, but it's enough to keep you on your toes as to what's going on. One of the good decisions made was the use of music to point out the important words and images in the film, or at least the ones they want you to believe are important. Also, the silences are very good, to leave you only with what you have on screen and thus seek to make you feel something: sadness, disappointment, confusion, or maybe tell the person next to you what you think of the movie.
It is clear that this time it shows more updated applications and functions than in 2018 in its first installment. And maybe it will make a little more noise in your head in light of the increased importance being placed on privacy vulnerabilities on the web. We hope that June's prancing around on her server doesn't give criminals ideas for how they can scam us. just kidding! They do more sophisticated things than that.🤦♂
Afortunadamente, es una película que mantiene su línea argumental sencilla: nunca pierdes de vista que estamos buscando a la madre de June (el personaje de la joven Storm Reid). Es posible que la lógica del espectador haga que le hablemos a la pantalla, como si June pudiera oír nuestras sugerencias de lo que debería hacer en su computador personal. Incluso, es muy probable de que en algún momento hayamos hecho algunas de las cosas que hace el personaje principal, obviamente no para encontrar a nuestra madre desaparecida. A pesar de que algunas de las cosas que hace tal vez parezcan demasiado básicas o inútiles, ¡vamos! Es una joven de 18 años que no ha empezado una carrera de criminalística ni siquiera. Además, no estoy seguro si la dirección y el guión busquen precisamente que te adelantes y saques tus propias conclusiones.
No es una película de terror o suspenso tan grande, pero sí lo suficiente para mantenerte atento a lo que viene sucediendo. Una de las buenas decisiones que se tomaron fue el uso de la música para señalar las palabras e imágenes importantes en la película, o al menos las que quieren que creas que son importantes. Además, los silencios son muy buenos, para dejarte sólo con lo que tienes en pantalla y así buscar hacerte sentir algo: tristeza, desilusión, confusión, o tal vez que le digas al que tienes al lado qué te está pareciendo la película.
Es evidente que ésta vez se muestras aplicaciones y funciones más actualizadas que en el 2018 en su primera entrega. Y quizás haga un poco más de ruido en tu cabeza en vista al aumento de importancia que se le está dando a la vulnerabilidad de privacidad en la web. Esperamos que las maromas que hace June en su servidor no les de ideas a los delincuentes para poder estafarnos. ¡Es una broma! Ellos hacen cosas más sofisticadas que eso.🤦♂

The main function of this movie is to entertain, not to scare you, make you laugh or much less to make you make a deep reflection on what we see today in society, social networks and the use (and abuse) of the internet. But obviously they are based or inspired by issues such as the ones we will mention in order to put together this story, and maybe you can draw some lessons on a personal level.
Seeing the theme of cybersecurity in the different interfaces that are used inevitably reminds you of the importance of staying as safe as possible within them. Likewise, the amount of information you disclose and store can be crucial at some point in life. Are we really safe when a teenager can breach the security of a system to reset passwords?
The protagonist's parental absence plays an important role in the judgment she forms in her self-taught research. This is not a spoiler. You'll learn about it in the first sequence of the film. If you notice, this family factor conditions what she considers good or bad in Kevin (Ken Leung), whom you will also meet early in the film. It is very likely that those who are in a similar situation to the teenagers can agree on the judgment that is made in the face of possible factors that point to male guilt.
The value of what we now lack is something that hurts to admit. We'll get a lot of this as we show how June copes with the possible total loss of her other parent. The film seeks to touch your heart by devoting a few minutes to intimate conversations between somewhat estranged mother and daughter that make you think about what was said but ignored, what was heard but not reciprocated, what was left undone or unsaid. But didn't we say it was a thriller mostly? True, but remember it's not a movie to keep you in suspense for more than an hour and a half, but to entertain you. So welcome the drama!🎉
And while some may want to cover the sun with a finger, the high toxic level that many places on the web have is a real thing to be wary of. The film clearly shows what we already know: many people who love to express their opinion freely in their virtual spaces even if they don't have complete information. They are simply personal conjectures, which although it is not wrong to express them (because it is part of life) can sometimes be presented in a less blunt and absolute way. Do you know what I mean? Standing ovation for those who have the courage to retract what they say once the truth comes out and they are disproved! All in all, sometimes the heart motivates us to do something, just as June seeks to contradict, mutate and disprove much of what is generated on the web about her mother.

La principal función de ésta película es entretener, no es asustarte, hacerte reír ni mucho menos hacer de que hagas una reflexión profunda sobre lo que vemos actualmente en la sociedad, las redes sociales y el uso (y abuso) del internet. Pero obviamente se basan o inspiran en temas como los que mencionaremos para poder armar ésta historia, y tal vez puedas sacar alguna lección a nivel personal.
Ver el tema de la seguridad cibernética en las diferentes interfaces que se usan hace que inevitablemente recuerdes la importancia de mantenerte lo más seguro posible dentro de ellas. Igualmente, la cantidad de información que revelas y almacenas puede ser crucial en algún momento de la vida. ¿Estamos realmente a salvo cuando una adolescente puede violar la seguridad de un sistema para restablecer contraseñas?
La ausencia paterna de la protagonista juega un papel importante en el criterio que ella se forma en su investigación autodidacta. Ésto no es un spoiler. Te enterarás de ello en la primera secuencia de la película. Si te fijas, éste factor familiar condiciona lo que ella considera bueno o malo en Kevin (Ken Leung), a quien también conocerás temprano en el film. Es muy probable de que quienes estén en una situación parecida a la adolescentes puedan coincidir en el juicio que se emite ante posibles factores que apunten a una culpabilidad masculina.
El valor de lo que ahora nos falta es algo que duele admitir. Tendremos mucho de ésto al mostrar cómo se desenvuelve June ante la posible pérdida total de su otro progenitor. La película busca tocar tu corazón al dedicar algunos minutos a conversaciones íntimas entre madre e hija algo distanciadas, que te hace pensar en lo que se dijo pero se ignoró, en lo que se escuchó pero no se correspondió, en lo que se dejó de hacer o decir. Pero, ¿no dijimos que era una película de suspenso mayormente? Es verdad, pero recuerda que no es una película para mantenerte en suspenso por más de hora y media, sino entretenerte. Así que ¡bienvenido el drama!🎉
Y aunque algunos quieran tapar el sol con un dedo, el alto nivel tóxico que tienen muchos lugares de la web es algo real con lo que hay que tener precauciones. La película claramente muestra lo que ya sabemos: muchas personas que les encana expresar su opinión libremente en sus espacios virtuales aunque no tengan la información completa. Sencillamente son conjeturas personales, que aunque no está mal expresarlas (porque es parte de la vida) a veces se puede presentar de forma menos tajante y absoluta. ¿Sabes a qué me refiero? ¡Ovación de pie para aquellos que tienen el valor de retractarse de lo que dicen una vez que la verdad llega y quedan desmentidos! Con todo, en ocasiones el corazón nos motiva a hacer algo, tal como June busca contradecir, mutear y desmentir mucho de lo que se genera en la web acerca de su madre.
With this movie you can spend an entertaining afternoon, where you may feel like you are listening to an interesting story that you found in one of your social networks or messaging services that a friend tells you, where you may learn some new use of your devices and applications. Take your precautions if a family member is about to invest in a device and you don't have the money to buy the latest one that does everything you see in the movie😂. You will also have a bit of humor, which is put to good use in the face of a young and vibrant protagonist. You'd better be comfortable to ride out a few hard-hitting twists in the story where you'll be made to discard entire routes of thought.Its ending? Acceptable. You can't ask much from content that doesn't stray far from its first installment, faithful to a rigid way of presenting the story to you.
Do I recommend it?
Yes, if you don't set the bar too high. You'll have realized that it's not the blockbuster of the year, that its story already has a foundation that at the time was novel, captivating and interesting, which is already hard to match by two newbies in directing. In addition, if you are one of those who handle social networks and get involved with the available interfaces, you will surely follow the sequences that the protagonist takes to solve the mystery without any problem. But if you are one of those who still leave voicemails in the mailboxes of your contacts when they do not answer your calls, you will be in trouble at some points of the film.
And we come to the part where I give my opinion: the top 3 phrases. They are here because they are well designed, that make you think, that you remember as time goes by, either because they are authentic, truthful, deep, original, controversial, vile lies or because they are key to understand the movie. Here they are... PUM!
Con ésta película podrás pasar una tarde entretenida, donde quizás te sientas que estás escuchando una interesante historia que encontraste en alguna de tus redes sociales o servicios de mensajería que te relata un amigo, donde quizás aprendas algún nuevo uso de tus dispositivos y aplicaciones. Toma tus precauciones si algún familiar está por invertir en algún dispositivos y no tienes dinero para comprar el más actual, que haga todo lo que ves en la película😂. Tendrás también un poco de humor, que se aprovecha muy bien ante una protagonista joven y llena de vitalidad. Es mejor que estés cómodo para que sobrelleves unos cuantos giros contundentes en la historia donde te harán descartar rutas de pensamiento completas. ¿Su final? Aceptable. No se le puede pedir mucho a un contenido que no se separa mucho de su primera entrega, fiel a una rígida forma de presentarte la historia.
¿La recomiendo?
Sí, si no pones la barra muy alta. Te habrás dado cuenta de que no es el éxito de taquilla del año, que su historia ya tiene una base que en su momento resultó novedosa, cautivadora e interesante, que ya es difícil de igualar por parte de dos novatos en la dirección. Además, si eres de los que maneja las redes sociales y te involucras con las interfaces disponibles, de seguro seguirás sin problema las secuencias que lleva la protagonista para resolver el misterio. Pero si eres de los que aún deja mensajes de voz en los buzones de tus contactos cuando no contestan tus llamadas, estarás en problemas en algunos momentos de la película.
Y llegamos a la parte donde doy mi opinión: el top 3 de frases. Están aquí por ser bien diseñadas, que te hacen pensar, que recuerdas al pasar el tiempo, bien sea por ser autenticas, veraces, profundas, originales, controversiales, viles mentiras o porque son clave para entender la película. Aquí están... ¡PUM!

Missing will have you accompany a proactive teenager looking for her mother with a lot of blue light in her face and a constant reminder that she should have paid more attention to her Spanish classes. And we don't judge her, because across all the areas shown throughout the film and in many areas more, we humans in general are prone to make the same mistake: taking things for granted.
Missing te hará acompañar a una proactiva adolescente que buscará a su madre con mucha luz azul en su rostro y un constante recordatorio de que debió ponerle más atención a sus clases de español. Y no la juzgamos, porque a través de todos los ámbitos mostrados en toda la película y en muchos ámbitos más, los seres humanos en general estamos propensos a cometer un mismo error: dar las cosas por sentado.
