The story follows three different family whose life initially appear to be different. However series of unexpected events connected them in ways non of them could have imagined. Each family has it own challenges, struggles, dreams and understanding about God.
First is the Newman family : when faith is tested by tragedy
David Newman is a pastor preparing to take over the leadership of his Father's church. He is a well respected man who take most of his time serving God and the church. However, despite his spiritual responsibility David find it difficult to balance his ministry and his responsibility as a husband and father. His young son Eric, want more attention from him. David has made a promise to his son but has repeatedly failed him because of his busy schedules.
Unfortunately, tragedy strikes when Eric is involved in an accident cause by Maria Hernandez a teenage girl who is texting while driving.
David who has spent years encouraging people to trust God in difficult times, now finds himself struggling with his own faith. He now begins to question why God will allow this to happen to his family.
This part of the story reveals a saying that says "Capability does not equal Authorization". It's means that i can do doesn't have to mean I will do. God has an agenda and we should learn that God has his ways of doing things.
The Danielson family : when dreams and expectations collapse
The second family is the Danielson family.
John Danielson is a businessman whose construction company is experiencing financial difficulties.
He has invested considerable hope in his daughter Michelle who posseses an exceptional talent in singing.
Michelle has an opportunity to audition for a major record label, John believe that her success could transform their family financial situation for good.
However something unexpected happened during the audition.
Michelle suddenly collapse, she was rush to the hospital were the doctors confirm that she is having a serious heart condition.
Her medical condition threatens her dream of becoming a successful singer and at most her life.
John is devastated
Unlike his wife, Mary who maintains a strong hope in God, John struggles to understand why God will allow them face these tragedies.
The Hernandez family : A mistake with life changing consequences
Kate Hernandez is a single mother who owns a restaurant, she is a Christian mother who wants the best for her daughter, Maria
Maria is an ambitious teenager who dream of going to college and building a successful life.
However Maria made a terrible mistake using her phone while driving. During this moment of distraction she accidentally ran through hits Eric Newman.
Maria is taken to juvenile detention while the Newman family struggles to with the consequences of the accident.
Kate is heart broken knowing her daughter has made a big mistake.
She must now deal with the consequences of her daughter's mistake.
How the three family's became connected
This is were the movie becomes particularly interesting.
Although their problems seams to be different their circumstances gradually became interconnected.
The accident involving Eric and Maria, together with Michelle medical condition create an unexpected connection between the three families.
As the story develops, the families discovered that their sufferings, although different, brings them into situations were they must confront their beliefs, attitudes and relationship with others.
One of the central message of the movie is that God can use unexpected to bring them together and give them the opportunity to demonstrate love. I will conclude with a bible verse:Romans 8 vs 35 " Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress or persecution or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword"? Our response should be from verse 37 " Nay in all these things we are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us. For i am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor Angels nor principalities nor powers nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor dept nor anything else in all creation can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus ".
