***Hello friends of #moviesandtvshows, today I want to share with you a series that I had pending and that I finally finished watching, I had to postpone it involuntarily, but yesterday finally came the day to finish it. Since I started it I knew I wanted to share it with you, because from the first chapter I was completely captivated and although it had its peak a couple of years ago, it has been a little forgotten despite being quite good.
The main reason I chose to watch it was because of the actress who plays the main character, Natasha Lyonne, I had already seen her acting in Orange is the new black so every time the poster of this series appeared on Netflix it was like a reminder to watch it. I literally started off blank, I hadn't read anything about the story, much less seen trailer, I only knew that "Nicky" was the main character, so the whole series was a very pleasant surprise for me.
Russian doll focuses primarily on Nadia, a sarcastic thirty-something with great disdain for the opinion and welfare of others, on the celebration of her 36th birthday she gets caught in a time loop after dying prematurely that same night when she is hit by a cab.
I don't want you to think that I just gave you spoilers, it is something that happens in the trailer and quite early in the first episode, besides that is not the central focus of the story, well, maybe a little, but it is not the most important thing, if you choose to watch it you will judge for yourselves. The series consists of fifteen 30-minute episodes, which are divided into two seasons, eight in the first and seven in the second. Technically, it is of the comedy genre, but it is definitely not the typical "sitcom" that most people are used to, it is more of a black comedy with a strong inclination towards drama.
It is not suitable for all audiences, so I do not recommend watching it in family with the younger ones, there is presence of alcohol, drugs, sex and quite a lot of curse words, if you are bothered by these things Russian doll is definitely not for you, if not I highly recommend it.
Source: [IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7520794/mediaviewer/rm2789350401/)I must be honest and accept that when I started watching it the first thing I thought was "well, another Groundhog Day", because as I told you I knew absolutely nothing about the plot, but I was completely wrong, perhaps the concept of repeating the same experience over and over again has been inspired a bit by that legendary film, but the way the story develops radically separates it from this, especially the second season, so it has become one of my favorite series involving time travel or time paradoxes.
Throughout the episodes of both seasons we discover a little more about Nadia and I must say that many times I felt identified with her, perhaps for some she is a somewhat strange character, selfish and even unsympathetic, but I think that's precisely part of her appeal, for me it was just a matter of putting myself in her shoes to understand that not everyone has had the privilege of having a "functional" family that supports them and gives them stability, both physically and emotionally. This is part of what is unveiled throughout the episodes and I loved it, because it made quite a bit of sense of what is going on in the protagonist's life.
Reliving the past to understand our future.
***For me, the big message of Russian Doll is to learn to forgive ourselves and to forgive, as well as, the importance of working through problems with our authority figures, in order to have a more fulfilling existence and without carrying so many burdens on our backs. Perhaps this will sound very moralistic and probably boring, but I promise you the way to get to this moral is very entertaining and full of nonsense propitiated by the crazy Nadia, who has absolutely nothing moralistic, on the contrary, many times has attitudes that would shock anyone with a closed mind.
Watching her repeat her death over and over again during the first season was quite revealing, I began to question myself about what would happen if I were involved in a similar situation, maybe I wouldn't react like her, but I am one hundred percent sure that at the beginning I wouldn't understand what is happening either, let alone accept it easily. That was one of the things I liked the most, the naturalness of the protagonist, she has problems with which I could feel totally identified and reactions that for me are completely natural. Sometimes I feel that in some series or movies the characters have practically everything solved and when something extraordinary happens to them they accept it and decipher it as if it were an everyday thing, here we see how Nadia episode after episode struggles to understand what is happening and to know how to end it once and for all.

This season at first seemed a bit unnecessary and pointless, but little by little the story was enveloping me and the only thing I wanted to know was if Nadia achieved her goal or not. The chaos escalates tremendously until in the last episodes it becomes a real madness that leaves us the teaching that, definitely, time is not to be trifled with.
Something that also caught my attention was that the selection of musical themes that accompanies the story is really good, there is a particular song that plays almost the entire first season and is excellent, it is a "subtle" representation of what Nadia is living. In addition to this song, it has others by Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, Van Halen and even Mae West, it was a detail that surprised me and that I appreciate a lot, because I definitely enjoy a story more if it comes hand in hand with a good soundtrack.
The only thing that did not please me too much about the series is that there are still several unknowns to be solved, I will not mention them so as not to ruin the story, I will only tell you that I hope it gets the renewal for a third season, that is the duration originally planned by its creators and I think it is totally necessary to give it a proper closure, now let's just hope that Netflix will grant it.

As the story progresses, things become more and more complex for Nadia and of course for Lyonne as well, especially in the second season. I already knew the ability of the actress, as I had previously seen her in Orange is the new black and as I told you at the beginning, my experience watching her in that series was what made me want to watch Russian Doll and I was really not disappointed, on the contrary, I could reaffirm that she is a great actress.
It's definitely a series that I enjoyed a lot and I highly recommend it if you like this kind of subject matter. It's relatively short, so that's another plus if you want to quickly catch up with it.
What I liked most.
✅ The way they pose the time loops and time travel, especially in the second season, it's chaotic and unpredictable for the main character, something that always gives rise to crazy and entertaining situations.
✅ The excellent performance of Natasha Lyonne, there is nothing more to say, she is great in the role of Nadia.
What I liked the least.
❌ There are too many things that still have no explanation, I think eventually they will, but for now I'm still with many unknowns, I hope they get renewed for a third season and they can explain everything.

Hola amigos de #moviesandtvshows, el día de hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una serie que tenía pendiente y que por fin terminé de ver, la había tenido que posponer involuntariamente, pero ayer finalmente llegó el día de terminarla. Desde que la comencé supe que quería compartirla con ustedes porque desde el primer capítulo me cautivó por completo y aunque tuvo su auge hace un par de años atrás, ha quedado un poco en el olvido a pesar de ser bastante buena.
La razón principal por la que escogí verla fue por la protagonista, Natasha Lyonne, ya la había visto actuar en Orange is the new black así que cada vez que aparecía el póster de esta serie en Netflix era como un recordatorio para verla. Comencé literalmente en blanco, no había leído nada sobre la historia, mucho menos había visto tráiler, solamente sabía que "Nicky" era la protagonista, así que toda la serie fue una sorpresa muy placentera para mí.
Russian doll se enfoca primordialmente en Nadia, una treintañera sarcástica y con gran desdén por la opinión y el bienestar ajeno, en la celebración de su cumpleaños número 36 se ve envuelta en un bucle temporal después de morir prematuramente esa misma noche al ser atropellada por un taxi.
No quiero que piensen que les acabo de hacer spoiler, es algo que sucede en el tráiler y bastante temprano en el primer episodio, además de que ese no es el foco central de la historia, o sea, sí, pero no es lo más importante, si se animan a verla juzgarán por ustedes mismos. La serie consta de quince episodios de 30 minutos de duración, los cuales están divididos en dos temporadas, ocho en la primera y siete en la segunda. Técnicamente, es del género comedia, pero definitivamente no es la típica "sitcom" a la que la mayoría seguro está acostumbrado, es más bien una comedia negra con fuerte inclinación al drama.
No es apta para todo público, así que no recomiendo verla en familia con los más jóvenes, hay presencia de alcohol, drogas, sexo y bastantes palabras altisonantes, si les molestan estas cosas definitivamente Russian doll no es para ustedes, si no es así se las recomiendo ampliamente.
Fuente: [IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7520794/mediaviewer/rm2789350401/)Debo ser sincera y aceptar que cuando la comencé a ver lo primero que pensé fue "bueno, otro día de la marmota", porque como les comenté no sabía absolutamente nada de la trama, pero estaba completamente equivocada, quizás el concepto de repetir la misma experiencia una y otra vez sí se haya inspirado un poco en esa legendaria película, pero la forma en la que se desarrolla la historia la separa radicalmente de esta, sobre todo la segunda temporada, por lo que se ha convertido en una de mis series favoritas que involucran viajes o paradojas temporales.
A lo largo de los episodios de ambas temporadas vamos descubriendo un poco más de Nadia y debo decir que muchas veces me sentí identificada con ella, quizás para algunos es un personaje algo raro, egoísta y hasta antipático, pero creo que eso es precisamente parte de su atractivo, para mí solo fue cuestión de ponerme en sus zapatos para entender que no todos han tenido el privilegio de tener una familia "funcional" que los apoye y que les brinde estabilidad, tanto física como emocionalmente. Esto es parte de lo que se va desvelando a lo largo de los episodios y me encantó, porque le dio bastante sentido a lo que pasa en la vida de la protagonista.
Revivir el pasado para entender nuestro futuro.
***Para mí, el gran mensaje de Russian Doll es aprender a perdonarnos y a perdonar, así como también, la importancia de trabajar en los problemas con nuestras figuras de autoridad, para poder tener una existencia más satisfactoria y sin llevar tantas cargas a cuestas. Quizás esto les sonará muy moralista y probablemente aburrido, pero les prometo la forma de llegar a esta moraleja es por demás entretenida y llena de disparates propiciados por la alocada Nadia, que de moralista no tiene absolutamente nada, al contrario, muchas veces tiene actitudes que escandalizarían a cualquiera con la mentalidad un poco cerrada.
El verla repetir su muerte una y otra vez durante la primera temporada fue bastante revelador, comencé a cuestionarme sobre qué pasaría si yo me viera envuelta en una situación similar, quizás no reaccionaría como ella, pero estoy cien por ciento segura de que al principio tampoco entendería lo que está pasando y mucho menos lo aceptaría con facilidad. Esa fue una de las cosas que más me gustó, la naturalidad de la protagonista, tiene problemas con los que me pude sentir totalmente identificada y reacciones que para mí son completamente naturales. A veces siento que en algunas series o películas los personajes tienen prácticamente todo resuelto y cuando algo extraordinario les pasa lo aceptan y lo descifran como si fuera algo de todos los días, aquí vemos como Nadia episodio tras episodio lucha para entender lo que está pasando y para saber cómo terminar de una vez por todas con su ciclo de muertes.

Esta temporada al principio me pareció un poco innecesaria y sin sentido, pero poco a poco la historia me fue envolviendo y lo único que quería saber era si Nadia lograba o no su cometido, el caos va escalando tremendamente hasta que en los últimos episodios se convierte en una verdadera locura que nos deja la enseñanza de que, definitivamente, con el tiempo no se juega.
Algo que me llamó mucho la atención es que la selección de temas musicales que acompaña a la historia es realmente buena, hay una canción en particular que suena casi toda la primera temporada y es excelente, es una representación "sutil" de lo que está viviendo Nadia. Además de este tema, tiene otros de Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, Van Halen e incluso de Mae West, fue un detalle que me sorprendió y que agradezco bastante, porque definitivamente disfruto más una historia si viene de la mano de una buena banda sonora.
Lo único que no me agradó demasiado de la serie es que todavía quedan varias incógnitas por resolver, no las voy a mencionar para no arruinarles la historia, solamente les diré que espero que obtenga la renovación para una tercera temporada, esa es la duración que planearon originalmente sus creadoras y creo que es totalmente necesaria para poder darle un cierre adecuado, ahora solamente esperemos que Netflix se las conceda.

A medida que avanza la historia, las cosas se van haciendo cada vez más complejas para Nadia y por supuesto que también para Lyonne, sobre todo en la segunda temporada. Yo ya conocía la capacidad de la actriz, ya que la había visto previamente en Orange is the new black y como les comenté al principio, mi experiencia al verla en esa serie fue lo que hizo que quisiera ver Russian Doll y de verdad que no me decepcionó, al contrario, pude reafirmar que es una gran actriz.
Definitivamente, es una serie que disfruté mucho y que recomiendo ampliamente si les gusta este tipo de temática. Es relativamente corta, así que ese es otro punto a favor si quieren ponerse rápidamente al día con ella.
Lo que más me gustó.
✅ La forma en la que plantean los bucles temporales y viajes en el tiempo, sobre todo en la segunda temporada, es caótico e impredecible para la protagonista, cosa que siempre da pie a situaciones alocadas y entretenidas.
✅ La excelente actuación de Natasha Lyonne, no hay más que decir, está estupenda en el papel de Nadia.
Lo que menos me gustó.
❌ Hay demasiadas cosas que aún no tienen explicación, pienso que eventualmente sí las darán, pero por ahora sigo con muchas incógnitas, espero que les renueven para una tercera temporada y que puedan explicar todo.
