Farmer's Bride - The Consequences of Wrong Decisions

Review by @afrikens 🏆#112 🔥5 🎵11 🎬11 · 19h · of Farmer's Bride · 1 view

Farmer's Bride is a movie that represents the lifestyle in the 1980s based on the graphics, costume and appearances. A movie that depicts how love could actually turn to be cold and end like a disaster.

Farmer's bride is a Nollywood movie directed by Jack'enneth Opukeme and Adebayo Tijani is about a young lady whose name is Funmi (Gbubemi Ejeye) and as the lead character in the movie, she did absolutely well in delivering her role. Funmi was forced by her parents into marrying a wealthy but single aged farmer (Femi Branch) and she absolutely had no say anymore since money and properties have been gotten from the farmer already as the price of betrothing her to the farmer. With frowned face and unhappy mind, she was married off and it was obvious Funmi had no iota of feelings for this man who is old enough to be her father.

It could have been a different story if his lifestyle is one Funmi could cope with, but I guess whoever you don't love, there is nothing about them that will please you. Smile had no place on her face until Femi came into the picture. He was the perfect guy of her dreams even though he was already dating Banke, who had been friends with Funmi before Femi's arrival.

On the other part is Femi's mum (Mercy Aigbe) who is the community's medicinal herbalist, and the wife to the late farmer's younger brother but it was obvious she had personal feelings for the farmer with her act. I love how the story didn't divert to give the normal line we all could predict, of the both of them ending up to have a fling or one-time thing but their roles were just the same as close in-laws.

Funmi and Femi ended up having their way with one another like a snail that clings on a tree till the secret affair turned to lead to pregnancy. Funmi is not ready to let go of Femi and Femi is not ready to betray a uncle who has always been a father-figure to him in morals and responsibility right from the death of his father.

How they will resolve the issue, what solution would they result to and what the consequences of their decision turned out to be and will Banke leave Femi with Funmi, is what you should find out in the movie so that I don't end up spoiling the movie.

I love how they maintained the movie's concept. There was no unnecessary dragging and even though it is not an original story, it still kind of felt real. I just didn't like how the movie was kind of predictable because anymore who has always been a fan of movies would predict the next thing to happen if probably not the next scene. Even if it's a repeated story, give us a bit of twist.

The likes of Tobi Bakare, Gbubemi Ejeye, Femi Branch, Mercy Aigbe, Wunmi Toriola, Efe Irele were actors I wasn't expecting less from and they actually tried even though I've seen a few of them acted more in other movies but story line matters as well anyways.

One thing that stayed with me from the movie is that, there is always consequences for every decision we make. Right from the parent's decision to marrying their daughter off to someone she does not love because of money upto the same daughter deciding to have an affair with Femi and choosing to be with him.

I'll be dropping my 🖊️ here on the movie review.

Thanks for reading through 🤗
