Francis Ford Coppola gave us the majestic adaptation of Mario Puzo's novel, 50 years ago since the premiere of the first film of the trilogy. I personally feel that it is the best mafia feature film ever made. Chronicles the rise and fall of the Corleone family, and this trilogy of films has earned the consideration of being one of the best in the history of cinema. The film has been restored for the occasion and will include some scenes that were discarded on the editing table due to the length of the footage (165 minutes).
Paramount Pictures has decided that the film will return to theaters in a limited way, with a new look. With a restoration in Dolby Vision, that is, 4K quality. A restoration that has been supervised at all times by Coppola. For this restoration, more than 300 boxes of film reels were carefully examined, in order to find the best possible resolution for each frame of each of the tapes. More than 4,000 hours were required to repair stains, tears, and other anomalies on the negatives. In addition, 1,000 hours were used to perform rigorous color correction, which ensured that the high dynamic range tools respected the original vision of Coppola and director of photography Gordon Willis. It is so that after this titanic task we will enjoy the film this February 25. It is a privilege to be able to see this jewel again in its best splendor and from the hand of its creator. Leave me your impressions in the comments. I wish you all a prosperous week.
