This idiom may be still lay in the ears of Indonesian audiences, the meaning of denotation is: the action as difficult as anything will be taken to achieve the goal. And that's the real life of this modern western movie.
This film is about Tanner Howard and Toby Howard-the brother of a former prisoner and a sister who is being squeezed by economic problems-and Marcus Hamilton-the police officer at the end of the term. The first parallel shows an act of robbery in an office in a city that was previously cool. Because their background is not a competent robber plot, the action is full of "unpreparedness and incompetence". This is where the "bad guys" and "goodies" are for the first time touched.
# Talking about modern western movies, in fact I'm not very "in" to this genre.
I remember very well then, when No Country for Old Men (2007) earned endless praise, I just felt the recognition was excessive. This attitude does not mean putting aside the "mature" aspect, such as the iconic character and the movie's success in maintaining an endless atmosphere. No Country for Old Men is still a good movie, but not very good.
At Hell or High Water, the concern that I would have a similar impression could burst. Luckily, I'm pretty fond of this movie. We as spectators are confronted with the reality in which there arises a lot of silly and ironic acts of hasty decisions by their characters. That's why in the synopsis paragraph, evil-well I quoted. As the duration progresses, the evil-fine constraint by itself, all that remains is a gray zone.
Moving from here, then Taylor Sheridan's Hell or High Water manuscript is arguably monumental.
The narrative of this film does not attempt to take the scope of a broad storytelling, it is very narrow. Then came the status quo who was screwed by a speck of entities that happened to be in financial cases and family ballads. When the robbers feel uneasy and in a hurry, just the police officers are too relaxed as if nothing extraordinary incident happened, in contrast. Everything turns dynamically displayed without seeming suddenly there. The motivation is clear and the goal is not grandiose. The figures of innocence in this film is really rare, so innocent it is more difficult to work on and created.
# Jeff Bridges and Chris Pine are the most shining here.
Even for Chris Pine, this is the best performance throughout his acting career to this day. Especially with the support of technical departments: cinematography, scoring, production design, and make-up and hairstyling. I was made pangling by the looks of the main characters.
On the other hand, this is an example of a film that should make us respect for the slow phase.
It is not necessary that memforsir performance and sequence until the sense of intense it even impressed imposed. Hell or High Water has shown it nicely with the right dose.
Hell or High Water is about the sincerity that is sought as best.
In the end, when in the beginning there was a clear barrier about who the perpetrator was and who the victim was, at the end it would fall out entirely. All are victims, whether through mechanisms and disasters how.
David Mackenzie manages to direct a film that confidently articulates the term "loneliness".
Obviously this is not a film that will be universally satisfying for everyone. It is possible to remain uncomfortable with the lateness of the narrative. However, such conditions can not reduce the fact that this is an established film.
Hell or High Water gets 8.5 out of 10 stars.
