As we're approaching the 478th billion Marvel movie "Avengers: The Actual Endgame But Not Really" I keep having this question in the back of my mind: Shouldn't the Marvel universe be broken by now? I mean, I live in Baghdad, and it wasn't destroyed half as bad as New York in the first Avengers movie and we're still trying to rebuild almost 20 years later.
I mean, okay, forget about all the destroyed buildings that I assume no people were inside since this is the MCU and people don't die during all destruction. But, who's still starting businesses?
Especially in New York. How do you go about convincing people to invest in the state?
You should start your business in New York
Isn't it constantly getting attacked by villains?
Yes, but that happens only every six months. The portal bringing those villains from other universes has been closed, so we're safe from that.
Great! Where do I sign up to start a business in a state with high taxes rate AND prone to aliens attacks?
Also, Insurance
I mean isn't that why neighborhoods with high criminal activities don't have a lot of business since no insurance company would insure businesses there? And we're talking robberies mostly. How much would the insurance companies charge when there's a 50-50 chance they'd have to rebuild the business every 6 months?
I mean look at this post-credit Shawarma scene from the first Avengers movie
The owner is probably suffering from trauma but still can't get the day off because he knows that he will have his insurance rate increase 10 times the current one.
Asgardians had to leave Asgard because Loki released the Fire Demon Surtur. Never mind the fact that the asshole Avengers didn't show up to help as Thor did for them, ungrateful runts. But, that's one supervillain and Asgardians had to leave, how is earth so immune?
Destruction-prone areas with high taxes, which by the way probably went up to pay for the fancy equipment at S.H.I.E.L.D alone. Do you think all those spaceships that go across the galaxy and dimensions are cheap?
So, you have sky-high taxes rate, sky-high insurance rates, and all destruction. No one in their sane mind would put a dime to start a business in the MCU.
In Conclusion
We're not going to get into how the MCU should already be dead due to overcrowded hospitals and the effects of all these weapons and explosions on the climate.
The MCU should be broke. I mean why is Stark even a billionaire still? What is he even selling? Technology? Who do you think is running to buy the new iPhone let alone whatever the hell he's selling since he stopped selling war weapons. And with the factors I mentioned above, who's still creating products anyway?
