It is a drama / romance film, directed by director Karan Johar that portrays the complex life of an autistic person who had to fight against society's prejudices in order to follow his life trajectory.
Synopsis
Rizwan Khan, a Muslim child who has behaved differently from other children since his childhood and was soon found out to have Asperger's syndrome, a kind of autism, grew up with his mother in Mumbai. As an adult, he moved to San Francisco to live with his brothers. Once there, he falls in love with a young woman named Mandira, a divorced hairdresser who lives with her son Samee. Over time the two get married and have a happy life, but only until the attacks of September 11, when they start to be attacked by their ethnic origin and to suffer a lot of prejudice, and then he is imprisoned by mistake as a suspected of terrorism in Los Angeles.

Despite the different behaviors of other children, Khan was an intelligent child, he learned everything very easily and had an incredible memory, but because he was considered to be different from everyone else, he suffered prejudice at school and was even excluded and ridiculed by other students. And his mother never gave up on him, because she saw her son through his difficulties, always believing in his potentials and invested all his energy and love to provide a development that would help him in his autonomy and independence.
As time went by, Khan faced several difficulties and his mother asked his wise older brother to teach him everything he knew and then his brother became her mentor. Khan learned from school subjects with him, but because of his ease in learning to handle mechanical devices he also learned to repair them, and most importantly, the most important lesson that Khan learned was to help others with his knowledge and love.
Khan had inflexibility and rigidity of thought, difficulty in interpreting facts or abstract situations, however, he performed well in processes involving memorization and repetitive mechanical tasks. He had sensory, perception and performance difficulties in some activities, and he also did not know how to deal with his emotions and feelings.
And in some moments, khan showed sadness or joy in an appropriate way because it is a challenge to have the syndrome, because perceiving the world differently also causes his reactions to be demonstrated in a peculiar way.
This is a beautiful, sad, emotional, comic or dramatic film, all at the same time, as it depends on the eyes and the experience of everyone who watches.
An Asperger may not know how to express his feelings, he may have ways that people around him may find strange or simple crazy, but his literal way of 'understanding' the social system can make us review our preconceptions about everything around us and make subjective experiences the main mark of human existence.
