When I started watching this movie I thought it would be another teenage romance, which I would not like to call superfluous but at least it is not something deep and thought provoking, on the contrary this movie makes you question a lot of things about love and relationships and is full of teachings and lessons. It is directed by Tim Trachte (The Vampire Sisters) and is based on a book of the same name based on true events.

The story begins when Jessica, a fairly quiet girl used to a simple routine working in her parents' business, meets Danny, who at first glance is a playboy but who shows us that he is much more than that. Together they begin a relationship, and things start to get serious, Jessica is forced to make a decision when she learns Danny's best kept secret.

Although the film is from 2019, it is set in the first decade of the 2000s, where even though a lot of research had already been done, there were still great reservations about the disease that Danny suffers from: HIV. The film clearly portrays how zero-positive people suffer not only from discrimination by society, but the fear that causes them to forge meaningful connections with people because of the rejection or abandonment they could suffer and this is very important, honestly I had never thought of something like that and that left me a little cold, I think we need to be more compassionate about these things.

We also have "the other side of the coin", although it is possible to have a relationship with a person with this kind of autoimmune disease without major danger due to the advances in science, at that time there were still no such advances and also and what they emphasize in the film is the expectation of how long a person will live in these conditions, is it worth undergoing such risks for a few months of a relationship? The answer for our protagonist is yes, together they plan to have the longest and best time together before the disease takes its toll. The film also touches on what resilience is, to what extent you can insist a loved one be treated just because you don't want to let go, the suffering of being left alone with the suffering the treatments create for the counterpart must be weighed.

Finally, the film also touches on the issue of child sexual abuse and the repercussions of it. Danny is a survivor of abuse by his father and so is his best friend, although both channeled their pain in very different ways, Danny takes refuge in martial arts, while Tina appeases her pain with drugs.

I would like to point out that the photography and landscapes are very beautiful because despite being a German production half of the film takes place in the United States. As I said at the beginning I was not expecting something so deep when I put the movie on, in fact I was a bit in shock when it ended because it really makes you reflect on too many things and also makes you learn to value others, I really recommend it I give it 3.5/5.
