For as long as I can remember I have been obsessed with rodents, in fact I have a guinea pig and I have had hamsters, that's why in 2009 when I saw the trailer for this movie I was very excited, because it seemed like a very good concept for a movie. This is a review of G-Force which is directed by Hoy Yeatman (Bad boys for Life, A Series of Unfortunate Events). We have 4 main characters: Jaurez, the only female of the group (voiced by Penelope Cruz), Huxley (Jon Favreau) who is the leader of the group, Darwin (Sam Rockwell) who is new to the group and Speckels (Nicolas Cage) who is a mole we also have Sam Galifaniakis as the human and G-Force trainer.
The movie tells us about a police task force mission composed of animals, but these are not the typical animals we would expect, which in itself is interesting enough to get out of the dog and cat scheme, our team is composed of guinea pigs, a guy and A FLY! It's great that they've given such an important role to domestic animals that we usually take for weaklings. These little animals are on a mission to save humanity from the mind control plan that an evil millionaire plans to implement through the coffee makers his company sells. The team leader, who is human, is notified that they will have no more budget and that the animals will be sent to a pet store, our heroes go through a thousand and one hardships to escape from the store, they even believe that one dies but they do everything possible to escape because they have the company to save humans. When the team manages to reunite and return to the house of their human this one trusts them that they have not been genetically modified as he had told them in the beginning and tells each one of them their origins, this is a quite important turning point of the film since our heroes stop feeling special even though they have many qualities superior to those of any average animal, they reflect on this and recognize their value and decide to continue their mission. They arrive at the villain's appliance factory and fight with a series of appliances with their own intelligence, in this, the mole "Speckels" reveals that he is part of the villains' team because he considers that humans are evil for wanting to exterminate their kind, everything feels lost because he goes out to terrorize the streets with a giant robot. The fight ends when the leader of the group manages to convince him that revenge is not important but the family he has made with the group and together they decide to insert a virus in the robot, which destroys the entire system. To save humanity, the CIA decides to reactivate the task force and gives the animals badges.
It is made in Disney 3D and it seems to me that the director managed to integrate very well the computer parts with reality. The guinea pigs are excellently made, it is incredible how they transposed the movements and gestures of the real guinea pigs, especially the running, it is identical. As they characterized the different breeds of guinea pigs that exist through very well done coats, it is also flattering how detailed each animal is, the nails, the whiskers, the eyes of the fly, the mole's snout, the movie is also quite balanced when giving humanoid characteristics such as talking and being able to do all the things that a CIA agent would do without removing the characteristics of the animals. Another good thing is the soundtrack, in the action scenes you feel like you are in a superhero movie.
Finally, the film leaves us with an important reflection and it is something I talked about in the beginning and it is that no matter your size, condition, race or where you come from, we are all special in some way and we are all capable of achieving great things. The movie for me turns out to be very good, entertaining and good for the whole family. That's all for today, thanks for making it this far. Goodbye!
