Back in 2020, Warner Bros released the is the fifteenth and final film in the DC Animated Movie Universe, it's directed by Matt Peters and Christina Sotta: Justice League Dark: Apokolips war, which follows the story arc of Darkseid comic. This marks the end of a HUGE movie era that started with Flashpoint Paradox. In this post I'll explain some reseason of why this movie makes the perfect ending to the era of the DC Animation Universe (DCAM), but I won't go deep on the plot trying to not make any spoilers, let get started:

Plot: after a few attends to conquer earth, Darkseid finally accomplishes his plans, taking the life of some of our beloved heroes, this is the story of how the survivors led by Constantine and Batman try to defeat earth's biggest menace.

First: the voice cast! I love that Warner Bros. has been casting and re-casting the same actors for animated movies and other film projects. So, we have the same voices all over DC projects. For example, Matt Ryan makes the voicing for Constantine in comic movies but he also impersonates Constante in the CW series. The cast is impeccable, every voice is pretty accurate to the character. I love Rosario Dawson as Wonder Woman.

Second: John Constantine is the protagonist. Yes, of course, we get to the members of the original Justice League, and the teen titans and even some members of the suicide squad, but the man of the hour is our magician from Vertigo, and this could be a very personal reason but I adore all the Sandman's story from Vertigo. So, watching this not-so-known character as a protagonist gives the story a fresh twist. What I like the most about this, it's that we get a very different Constantine to what we are used to, usually and even in Justice League Dark, John shows his selfish character, tricking others and getting advantage of them, for this movie we have a different Constantine a very human one, who tries to redeem himself for the damage he has done before, especially to Zatanna.

Third: This is an R-rated movie, this is not a kids movie. The level of violence and crudeness of the movie make it AMAZING, The movie has lots of deaths even in the first minutes it serves lots of purposes because it puts us in the context of how bad things can go and that's something, I think, have been failing in the DCAU movies, as they are designed for kids, so they don't show us how bad and cruel Darkseid and his subordinates can be.

Fourth: It's a pretty consistent film by itself, naturally if you watch the 14 prior films you'll have lots of background of the arc story BUT you do not necessarily have to see all of them to understand what the movie goes about.

Fifth: The animation. There's a reason why DCAU movies have always been better than the Marvel ones, in this film we get AWESOME action sequences, and we also get some versions of some characters that we don't see as often, for example: defeated Superman.

Sixth: Its humor and wittiness, I know that usually, DC movies are pretty dark and humorless but this movie has some touch of humor, especially humor that comes from irony, that helps us a bit to breathe some fresh air through all its darkness and I think that's very well done, adds a lot to the movie.

Lastly: the ending. It's a bit predictable because they discuss it early in the movie but I couldn't think of a better ending to this movie and this era. Because there's nothing else that can be done. And even when we know we won't have more of these movies, it sets an interesting left point if they decided to add more movies to the franchise.

So, in my opinion, even when the movie is not as accurate to the comics as I usually like. This movie is amazing and gives a gold ending to a HUGE era. That's it for today, thanks for coming this far. Bye!
