One of my favorite ways to start romances in movies and books is the "trapped together" plot, our protagonists may or may not know each other and fate somehow leads them to stay forcibly in the same place making love blossom. This is just the case of "Love in Verona", a Netflix original movie that is directed by Mark Steven Johnson who we know from the film Christopher Robin, plus it stars Kat Graham (The vampire diaries) and Tom Hopper (Game of thrones/The umbrella academy).
Una de mis formas favoritas de iniciar romances en películas y libros es la de "atrapados juntos", nuestros protagonistas pueden o no conocerse y el destino los lleva de alguna manera a permanecer por la fuerza en el mismo lugar haciendo que florezca el amor. Este es justo el caso de "Amor en Verona", una pelicula original de Netflix que es dirigida por Mark Steven Johnson a quien conocemos por el film Christopher Robin, ademas la misma esta protagonizada por Kat Graham (The vampire diaries) y Tom Hopper (Juego de tronos/The umbrella academy).
Right after breaking up with a long-term boyfriend, Julie goes on her dream trip: Verona - Italy, the city where Romeo and Juliette take place, everything on the trip goes awfully wrong and it just keeps getting worst, as she arrives at the Villa she rented to stay, she finds the owner double-booked the house to her and a not-so-friendly guy. As the city is packed because of Vinitaly, a wine convention, they are forced to stay together. Here is where a "war" starts.
The pair begins to prank each other and escalates pretty quickly to the point where the police are involved, they decide to a truce for a while after they make a mess of the villa because of a food war and start to get to know each other, suddenly they realize they're pretty alike even when they're quite different.
Justo después de romper con un novio de muchos años, Julie emprende el viaje de sus sueños: Verona - Italia, la ciudad en la que tienen lugar Romeo y Julieta, todo en el viaje va terriblemente mal y se pone cada vez peor, al llegar a la Villa que alquiló para alojarse, se encuentra con que el dueño le reservó la casa a ella y a un tipo no muy amigable. Como la ciudad está abarrotada debido a Vinitaly, una convención de vinos, se ven obligados a permanecer juntos. Aquí es donde comienza una "guerra". La pareja comienza a gastar bromas entre sí y se intensifica muy rápidamente hasta el punto de que la policía se ve involucrada, deciden hacer una tregua por un tiempo después de hacer un lío en la villa debido a una guerra de comida y comienzan a conocerse, de repente se dan cuenta de que son bastante parecidos incluso cuando son bastante diferentes.
I think this is the Netflix movie I've liked the most this summer, it's very cheesy sometimes but that's what chick flicks are about. We get to know all this girl who dreams about romance, it's obsessed with Romeo and Juliete and loves what she does (she is a teacher) which is super relatable but we also get the though guy, the unreachable one, the one who preffers money over doing everything for love or passion and they teach each other some lessons while falling in love. She teaches him that doing that is worth to takes risks in life and he teaches her that not fitting, or being a little weird it's ok, it's actually a good thing and we laugh a lot, these two hating each other, doing things to piss each other are super fun to watch.
The actors have enough chemistry with each other, i mean they don't make the screen melt of love, but it's nice to the how they love grows. As for the scenary the movie is filmed mostly in Verona and its surrounders, we get to watch some nice italian landscapes and a bit othe the culture, specially the cult dedicated to Juliete that is pretty big.
Creo que es la película de Netflix que más me ha gustado este verano, es muy cursi a veces pero de eso se tratan los chick flicks. Conocemos a toda esta chica que sueña con el romance, está obsesionada con Romeo y Julieta y ama lo que hace (es profesora) lo cual es súper relacionable pero también tenemos al chico sin embargo, el inalcanzable, el que prefiere el dinero a hacer todo por amor o pasión y se enseñan mutuamente algunas lecciones mientras se enamoran. Ella le enseña a él que para hacer eso vale la pena arriesgarse en la vida y él le enseña a ella que no encajar, o ser un poco raro está bien, de hecho es algo bueno. Nos reímos mucho, estos dos odiándose, haciendo cosas para cabrear al otro son súper divertidos de ver. Los actores tienen bastante química entre ellos, es decir, no hacen que la pantalla se derrita de amor, pero es bonito ver como crece el amor. En cuanto a los escenarios, la película está rodada en su mayor parte en Verona y sus alrededores, lo que nos permite ver algunos bonitos paisajes italianos y un poco de la cultura, especialmente el culto dedicado a Julieta que es bastante grande.
This movie is anything but boring, you'll have good laughs, good landscapes and LOTS of wine while falling in love with this pair of fools, i really recomend it . I give it 3/5
Esta película es de todo menos aburrida, tendrás buenas risas, buenos paisajes y MUCHO vino mientras te enamoras de este par de locos, realmente la recomiendo. Le doy 3/5
