"Cyborg Soldier" is a film that mixes action and science fiction with a B-movie feel.

In a way, it reminded me of films made in the 1990s, when there were no digital special effects.

The script is simple: Lindsay (Tiffani Thiessen) is a border police officer who one day, accidentally or in a drunken state, meets Rich Franklin, a genetically modified engineer and super-soldier created with the latest nanotechnology, from whom she escapes a top-secret military experiment.

They will flee forward in desperation, pursued by evil and unscrupulous creators who want to resume their "experiments" as soon as possible. Try to catch them at all costs.

The film is fun at times, especially as the chase always injects energy and movement into any film.

There are action scenes, but they are nothing spectacular, and there are fewer whistles, violent scenes and explosions than one would expect from such a film.

We can't expect too much from this product, because it is not a multi-million dollar Hollywood blockbuster. All things considered, the films are acceptable entertainment just to pass the time.

The story doesn't have much to tell, the bad guys chase the protagonist couple in a script borrowed from other films, and the events are explained very simply, almost in passing.

The highlight of the film is the participation of Bruce Greenwood, providing solidity with his experience.

The final twist, far from being predictable, is a pleasant surprise. In addition, the 84-minute running time helps to maintain a good pace.

On the other hand, the story is largely predictable and the special effects leave something to be desired. However, for a film of this style and budget, no greater pretensions were to be expected.

Of the performances, Tiffani Thiessen does a fine job. Her character provides some moments of humour, reflecting her strangeness in the face of the supernatural.

Rich Franklin delivers satisfactorily as the strong but stoic protagonist.

Finally, Bruce Greenwood is the villain, bringing the greatest acting nuance to his antagonistic role.
