This is a film that deals with a biblical theme and is a remake of Left Behind: The Movie (2000), is based on the book of the same name written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins and was directed by Vic Armstrong, of an extensive career in the world of cinema.

The screenplay was adapted by Paul LaLonde and John Patus and the main roles are played by Nicolas Cage as Rayford Steele, Chad Michael Murray as Buck Williams.and Cassi Thomson as Chloe Steele, the first a widely known and award-winning actor, winner of the 1992 Oscar for best actor for the film Leaving Las Vegas, the second a two-time winner of the Teen Choice Awards for best actor for the TV series One Tree Hill in 2004 and 2008, and the third known for playing the character of Cara Lynn Walker in the TV series Big Love.

The plot depicts the fulfillment of a biblical event called "The Rapture" where Christ will take to heaven those who have followed his laws while the rest will be left for the tribulation times.

The event is catastrophic as it produces fear, exaltation of baser instincts, airplanes fall into the air and the world goes into chaos, coincidentally Cage's character is an airline pilot who is in the air at that moment and must deal with the confusion of the moment and bring those who remain to safety on the ground.

On the other hand, his daughter, after the brother's abduction, must go to his house crossing the city and seeing the chaos in which it is, believing that the child is with her mother and later manages to make contact with her father and participate in the landing of his plane.

The film was released on October 3, 2014, had negative reviews from specialists and a segment of the public, while for the biblical scholar group it seemed a wake-up call and was screened and recommended in many evangelical Christian churches.

It had a production budget of $16 million and grossed just over $17 million.
