Occupation (2018)

This is an Australian science fiction action film, directed and written by Luke Sparke and released in 2018.

The plot follows a group of residents of a small rural town in Australia who are forced to band together and fight against an alien occupying force.

The story begins with the arrival of a fleet of alien spaceships invading Earth.

The aliens, known as "The Regents", aim to subjugate humanity and take control of the planet.

The city's inhabitants are caught in the middle of this invasion and must fight for their survival.

The film's cast includes Dan Ewing as the title character, a former rugby player named Matt Simmons, and Temuera Morrison as Peter Bartlett, a local war veteran. Other actors such as Stephanie Jacobsen, Rhiannon Fish and Charles Terrier are also part of the cast.

As the alien occupation advances, Matt Simmons and his group of survivors become a makeshift resistance.

They hide in the forest and plan surprise attacks against the enemy forces, seeking to destabilise their control and free humanity.

The film features action scenes, alien combat and tense moments as the resistance group struggles to survive and reclaim their home.

Themes of unity, bravery and sacrifice are also explored as the characters face increasing challenges.

The film cost just $6 million to produce and grossed over $21 million, earning decent reviews from audiences.

A sequel was made two years later with some of the original cast but was less successful.

Personally I consider that it fulfils the function of entertaining.
