This computer animated film is one of those works that disproves that second parts are neither good nor better, since it undoubtedly surpasses the first and raises in the same, transcendental decisions that are taken in life.
A series of events that begin with the confrontation against a sleeping giant, the loss of his eighth life and the doctor's advice to withdraw from the adventure, plus the fact of a fight against a hooded wolf that strips him of his sword causes him to flee and hide, fearful of losing the only life he has left.
For the first time this happens to him and the recounting of his actions on the loss of his other lives makes him reflect on the fact that he wasted them in a carefree way without giving value to how important they were.
His last adventure will be transcendental to become aware that beyond fear he must value every moment and perform actions with passion and love, regardless of the consequences.
The film is produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Universal Pictures. The voices of the main character and Kitty Patitas Suaves are provided by Antonio Banderas, who also voices her in Spanish, and Salma Hayek, both of whom were also the voices in the first part.
It was directed by Joel Crawford, known for several works in Dreamword as a storyboard, among them the sequel to Kung Fu Panda and The Croods: A New Age, his last work before this one.
The script was in charge of Paul Fisher and Tommy Swerdlow and the production cost of the same was 90 million, 40 less than the first part, while the box office collection is already around 500 million in just 5 months, since it was trained on December 21, 2022, this will undoubtedly surpass the previous version who so far has collected 50 million more.
The critics have been favorable, highlighting the mix of animation with a touching and mature story and some consider it to be one of the best of the company in its entire existence.
It has been nominated for several awards as an animated film, many of them still pending and lost the Oscar to Guillermo del Toro's production "Pinocchio", who paradoxically was part of the direction of the first part of this one.
I highly recommend it, it is a good option to watch with the family and enjoy the 102 minutes it lasts.
