This is a classic style action movie, directed, written and starred by Sylvester Stallone, where the blows, exchanges of gunfire and extreme situations are not lacking.

For the same Stallone tried to bring together the most iconic actors of this type of film but did not succeed, however the cast is top notch, with Jason Statham, known for the film and sequel Transporter and his participation in Fast & Furious and several dozen other films, Jet Li, martial arts expert and star of the series Once Upon a Time in China, in which he played the hero Wong Fei Hung.

Also part of the team of mercenaries is Dolph Lundgren who is famous for his action and martial arts films and it was with Stallone that he obtained his first success in Hollywood playing the Russian boxer Ivan Drago in Rocky IV, another of the group is Terry Crews, former soccer player, television presenter and star of films of various genres who came from acting in Gamer and Terminator 4.

Rounding out the group is Randy Couture, a former multiple UFC champion, and also in less action roles are Bruce Willis and Mickey Rourke, who plays a tattoo artist.

The plot begins in a rescue operation against Somali pirates and later they are hired by a mysterious CIA director, played by Willis to assassinate an Ibero-American dictator who rules an island located between the Gulf of Mexico and South America.

There they are helped at first by their contact, a woman named Sandra who is the sister of the head of the army and the operation is discovered and from there begins an escalation of violence between the mercenaries under the command of the dictator and those led by Barney Ross, name of Stallone's character.

The film was released on August 6, 2010 and received mixed reviews, for some it fulfills the function of entertaining and for others it has missed the opportunity of a better production taking into account the artists involved.

The film's budget was approximately 82 million dollars and the box office gross was 275 million, and a sequel was made with the addition of Jean-Claude Van Damme, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Chuck Norris, who had similar success at the box office.

To date, two more sequels have been made.
