"The Forgotten", a psychological thriller released in 2004 and directed by Joseph Ruben with a screenplay by Gerald Di Pego, is about a woman named Telly Paretta, played by Julianne Moore, who is haunted by the loss of her son in a plane crash.
The plot centres on a woman named Telly Paretta, played by Julianne Moore, who is haunted by the loss of her son in a plane crash.
Suddenly, however, Telly begins to feel that everyone around her, including her husband and even the authorities, denies the existence of her son and tries to make her believe that she is delusional.
As Telly investigates further, she uncovers a mysterious conspiracy and embarks on a dangerous search for the truth.
The film explores themes of memory, trust and paranoia, keeping the viewer in suspense as the mystery behind her son's disappearance unravels.
"The Forgotten received mixed reviews, but was praised for Julianne Moore's performance and her ability to convey her character's pain and anguish.
Director Joseph Ruben manages to create an unsettling and disorienting atmosphere that keeps the viewer intrigued until the very end.
It won the 2005 Saturn Awards for best science fiction film and best actress, as well as the Taurus Award (awarded to specialists) for the best work in high altitude.
Personally I found it confusing and the abductions were never explained.
