Revenge is a series that I began to see after a friend recommended it to me since its plot is very similar to one of my favorite books, The Count of Monte Cristo. The whole series revolves around a sensation of revenge built spectacularly with an adult, intense and highly complex characters who constantly have to face hundreds of complicated situations orchestrated by a woman determined to recover what was taken away.

The plot of this series focuses on a woman newly arrived in one of New York's most expensive neighborhoods, a place that serves as a home for New York's richest and most powerful individuals and families, basically the cradle of some of the most influential people in the United States, a place where dozens of secrets are hidden by mountains of money and the influence of people of very high standing. Finally, the series presents us with a young woman who has come after having gone through all sorts of hard times in her life with the firm purpose of avenging the apparent death of her father, a young woman who as a child was forced to see how her father was accused of a horrible crime that drove him crazy and that kept her captive in a kind of reformatory without any help, a young woman who was forced to face the world alone and away from the man who meant everything to her; see? Similar to the Count of Monte Cristo.

The series will take us through a process of meticulous and planned revenge to the smallest detail where little by little this young woman will destroy the life of those who once participated in the fall of his father or simply decided to turn their backs on him, all through moments orchestrated to bring out the worst vices and the most horrible secrets of a group of people who constantly sit on top of the world playing with the lives of hundreds of people. With each chapter, we will discover more about the crime that was attributed to an innocent man who lost everything to the greed of others, a simple man who was involved in all sorts of atrocities. The plot of this series develops fantastically letting us see the fall of each of those who once participated in a conspiracy that went further than everyone initially thought. The whole series is built on a great veil of suspense and drama where we constantly see twists and turns and unexpected moments that change the meaning of the revenge that our young protagonist wants to carry out, because yes at times it seems this is not a story of subtle revenge where everything goes well suddenly and by the work of fate, this is a series where each situation, each scene, and each dialogue has a deeper meaning that at some point may return to make a difference in the plot. In this series, we will see constant changes of side, constant deaths and unearthed lies that complicate the story and make it seem that revenge will never end.

This is one of the most entertaining series I have seen because it has many unexpected moments that make us never be prepared for what is going to happen, a series seasoned with political and social conflicts that give a spectacular touch to the whole atmosphere of revenge and makes it seem that this is an endless story where the protagonist never won even if she continues to try. It's simply great to see how the series manages to create a constant dramatic rhythm that is never lost, here we don't have unnecessary jokes or stuffing moments, here what we have is a series that gets to the point in what it is but that at times takes the time to build sub-plots that complement the whole central arc of the series. Undoubtedly one of the most entertaining series I have seen, with performances that seem to be taken from old police dramas where you feel that suspense and that rage for knowing how it will end.

Never imagine that a series full of so much drama could please me, however I get caught from the first chapter thanks to the creative way in which they decided to develop and break down a revenge through the fall of key pieces, the whole series feels like a game of giant chess where the lives of dozens of people are playing, a game of chess where whoever wins will have had to sacrifice some pieces, yes, this series shows us dirty moments where betrayals emerge and where loyalties are bought. Finally, as I said, a series that you never manage to decipher because it constantly leaves open several argumentative paths towards where to go.
