[Review] The Walking Dead - We Are the End of the World

Review by @anomalogy · 2470d · of Walking Dead

After a few weeks seeing how the new season of The Walking Dead has developed I must say that I am extremely satisfied because the series seems to have recovered that suspense and intensity that one day turned it into a great series, a series where anything could happen, a series that kept us alert to any possible change in its plot. All that has been recovered thanks to the deep handling given to the group of whisperers, a group that unlike other enemies of the communities allied has been developed and built through the depth of their characters, especially because the creators have taken the time to present the past of these characters so that we have a history of why they act as they do.

# All that process of exploration and deepening of the characters is seen in episode two of this season where we can give a deep and detailed journey to the path that Alpha and Beta traveled to become the feared monsters they are today, two people who like any other character in the series had to go through situations that changed them, only they decided to face those situations in a more primitive way becoming animals without control.

This chapter two is without a doubt an extremely entertaining chapter because it allows us to explore the past of the two referents of the Whisperers through flashbacks that let us see how these two met by chance but ended up being the leaders and founders of a really wild group. The plot of this chapter lets us see the path of Alpha and Gamma alone as they mimicked each other in a group of walkers until they reached a kind of psychiatric shelter where they know Beta, a man tormented and devoted to his primitive desires, a man who falls into the "charms" of Alpha promising his loyalty completely.

This chapter was really entertaining because it also lets us see chronologically where the whisperers were after so long, remember that in chapter 1 we had been told that they had disappeared for a while. Through the minutes we see how is the dynamic within the group and above all how Alpha and Beta deal with the different people who are in their charge, people who more than being in the group by their own decision seem to be out of fear, fear of reprisals that the two leaders could take if they do not do things as they say. Another outstanding factor of this chapter is to see all the emotional conflict that Alpha brings with it after having let Gamma go, a conflict that is damaging her to the point of weakening her emotionally and mentally, a conflict that fortunately she manages to overcome by naming a new heiress who finally fills the void left by her daughter.

# In general, this was a great chapter because we could see the past of two super important characters for the story, two characters who already showed the savagery that defines them and above all to have a primitive mentality that makes them strong and extremely ruthless. In addition to that backstory that gives a lot of strength to the chapter, we also have an element of suspense and intensity derived from the chronological transition that makes the plot of this chapter meets the first, something that generates an expectation to know what will come now, as will develop the main conflict of the series from a war between two sides that seems inevitable. As I said this is a great chapter because it reminds me of the bases that established The Walking Dead as a great series, an intense and changing series capable of capturing diverse conflicts at the same time in a perfect way. #

Chapter Score: 8/10
