Am just going to freewrite my movie review right now. I am terribly terribly dismayed with this Woody Allen movie. I mean, what the heck did I just watch? A Rainy Day in New York is just crazy. What kind of movie is that? Lol. It's like everything in fast forward.
Timothee Chalamet, Elle Fanning and Selena Gomez are the main stars in this misguided film.

Summary:
College couple goes to New York. The young woman then gets harassed by 3 men (er, okay just 2 men) while "working" for her college school paper. Meanwhile her boyfriend kisses another girl and such because of a sudden acting gig since she keeps delaying their date/plans. A lot of things happens to the gf while the bf is just feeling left out, wandering about and then he finds out and thinks he got dumped. Whut? And then in the end they eventually break up and he "gets the other girl." 🤦♀️
Review
What, the guy thinks he's not important to his gf who's getting her "big break" and prioritizing her "career" more than him? And so he goes out and about with another girl while she's "busy"? She's actually "busy" getting harassed (or okay "wooed") by older men as she tries to squeeze something out of them to write in the paper! Jeezus. She doesn't even get anything except a story about what she experienced in her time in New York with those famous guys. 🙄
Yeah she also thinks she was having the opportunity of a lifetime with a hot and famous actor but come on. That's still cheating. She and her guy both cheated on each other one way or another.
Never mind that he's rich and always wins at poker games. Doesn't matter if he's privileged and raging against being one. Sheesh. What is the point? We get it, he feels lost. Well the entire film feels like it's lost too.
Sorry but A Rainy Day in New York is too flimsy for me. No chemistry with the actors, not much story substance... it's also just too many things at the same time or in the entire film. It could have been better but everything just doesn't work at all. I don't even like the cinematography except that one long shot before he plays the piano.
One of the worst movies I ever watched. It's not romantic at all. Sorry but it's 1 out of 5 stars for me. No wonder the Tomato reading in Rotten Tomatoes is low. It's a forgettable movie.
I watched the trailer before the movie and didn't like it but I still watched it just to see what kind of actor Timothee is. Well this is not one of his best films or maybe we can just blame the director/scriptwriter huh?
Don't watch it because you're not even gonna like anything except maybe Timothee's face. That's all. Or, watch at your own risk.
