Motion Picture Spike Lee "BlacKkKlansman" - the story of a black police officer who took root in Ku Klux Klan. I believe that Spike Lee, one of the founders of African-American cinema, who had not made significant films for a long time, returned to "BlacKkKlansman".
Incredibly, it actually happened. In the 1970s, Ron Stallworth, a young, ambitious police detective in the city of Colorado Springs, infiltrated the local office of Ku Klux Klan, being black. He persuaded to accept himself into the Organization (its members for the purpose of conspiracy preferred to call it that way) by phone, and when it came to a personal meeting, he sent himself a colleague Flip Zimmerman - white, but a Jew. The partners managed to expose the completely criminal network and prevent the terrorist attack.
Spike Lee, from which the fashion for independent African-American cinema began in the USA in the 80s, is an ideal candidate for transferring this breathtaking plot to the screen. I must say, in recent years, Spike Lee has ceased to create truly significant and influential paintings, which became famous in the late twentieth century. "BlacKkKlansman" - his return to service: in particular, the first for almost a quarter of a century tape, presented in Cannes. Not without reason, the most fashionable of the new generation of "black cinema", "Oscar-winning" author of the comedy horror "Get Out" Jordan Peele took up the production of the film.
"BlacKkKlansman" is in a very good old-fashioned way. This, however, does not pull on the flaw, because its action takes place almost half a century ago. An expressive character with a defiant afro hairdo (John David Washington, professional footballer and son of Spike Lee Denzel Washington, who has been shooting for many times) gets a job with the police, where he immediately comes up with an unusual initiative. His success in fulfilling the mission, the very thought of which had never occurred to anyone before, helps Ron make friends and at the same time find love, an activist of the black movement Patrice (beauty Laura Harrier with an even more impressive hairstyle). Then defeat a terrible secret society - the irremovable stronghold of American racism and fascism. Along the way, his first assistant and ally becomes initially skeptical Flip (Adam Driver, firmly included in the top of the most gifted young American artists), who for the first time discover their own Jewry, until then they have not really realized.
Energy, dynamics of high quality Hollywood dramaturgy and good humor help to swallow a few obtrusive politically-human rights pathos, which "BlacKkKlansman" oozes out. Something in this picture makes it related to the Tarantino ribbons, a lot of things - with the Coen comedies, especially their subtype, which is dedicated to the adventures of cheerful idiots. There are many excellent dialogues and energetic (almost too) off-screen music with virtuoso electric guitar solos. In general, it looks like sheer joy, not a movie.
True, if you begin to deal with the rhetoric of Spike Lee, then the questions will fall one after another. Why are all the black characters in the film so beautifully themselves, and all the members of the organization Ku Klux Klan, of any age and gender, are so unattractive and comical? Why are aggressive "Black Panther" slogans pronounced and repeated with sympathy, whereas they - sometimes literally - coincide with the slogans of people in white caps and torches? Finally, there really wasn’t one so clever and suspicious person among racists to uncover a simple police conspiracy?
"BlacKkKlansman" is emphatically, declaratively straightforward and simple-minded, in this is a considerable part of its charm. However, at the same time the answer to the question of why Spike Lee, remaining the highest authority, fell out of fashion. Today in the cinema questions of the race are raised and solved thinner, deeper and more paradoxical. Evidence of this is not only Moonlight or the aforementioned Get Out, but also even Marvel's "Black Panther". On the other hand, Lee's old-school enthusiasm is as cute as the 1970s soul overflowing film.
The cocky spirit of the arrogant police officer Buddy-Movie disappears completely in the monologue of a black man, who unexpectedly changes the tone of a picture (that is played by the great singer Harry Belafonte), who tells young people about the lynching of his friend. In addition, even more so in the final, completely already poster, editing footage from the collision chronicle of August 2017 in Charlottesville. Commenting on them, Donald Trump almost repeats the arguments of the "great sage" Ku Klux Klan David Duke. Duke, in the film, proclaims the very slogans that brought Trump to power - for example, "Make America Great Again".

The advantage of the film "BlacKkKlansman" returns an appeal to the cinematic theme: after all, Spike Lee is a director-Cinephilia. In search of the root of evil, he quickly gets to the picture with which, in many ways, Hollywood began, "The Birth of a Nation" by David Wark Griffith. It is there that African Americans are shown to be worthless idlers and cruel rapists, and noble knights of good show members of the organization Ku Klux Klan. Spike Lee’s black and white picture of the world is illustrated with an ominous final frame: the American flag seems to shed, losing its colors and becoming black and white, like in a griffit film. The answer to it in "BlacKkKlansman" is the colorful Blaxploitation samples from the 1970s, on which the heroes in love, Ron and Patrice, are oriented. Having seen a genre film about black supermen and super-voices, from now on they are not ready to put up with injustice and give the second cheek to society. Therefore, they enter into battle and win. As a real romantic, Spike Lee truly believes in the efficacy of the film that he made - and at the same time, in the victory of the color worldview over black and white.
