There are certain movies that I watch and think to myself, "well, this is not for me." I think it was a good movie, generally speaking. I must applaud the producers and director, J. A. Bayona, for gathering a right blend of actors, in a sci-fi/action/comedy movie that had a massive budget of around $170m. It was probably a fantastic movie considering it raised revenue of over $1Billion, but the film, unfortunately, wasn't for me.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) featured Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rafe Spall, and a few other not so notable names in this movie about giant dinosaurs. It is a sequel to the Jurrasic park that also had Chris and Bryce playing star roles.
The movie continues the story of Dinosaurs created through bioengineering and how they interact with modern society. In the prequel, an intelligent T-rex named Blue led a Dinosaur uprising that caused the destruction of Jurassic park, found on an island with a very active volcano.
With the volcano about to erupt, Chris and Bryce are once again called upon to help track Blue and take it back to America, I presume, where it would be kept "safe."
Unknown to them, the guy that sent them on this absurd errand had sinister motives. His plan was to weaponise the dinosaurs that are quite \dangerous initially through biotechnological alterations and enhancements.
I use to enjoy seeing absurd stunts like outrunning a volcanic eruption fresh after recovering from a sedative. Still, my limit stops at beating an erupting volcano while running side by side with mindless Dinosaurs, and actually outrunning them. Like that wasn't enough, you jumped off a cliff that is at least 200Ft high, located a pod, and still had the energy to release your friends stuck inside.
I've grown so numb at movies that don't bring genuine excitement through storyline and quality acting; two aspects that this movie actually lacked. Other than Chris and Bryce, the rest of the cast was really horrible to watch. There was also that cloned little girl that annoyingly ran and screamed like her only purpose was to give away her position, not very subtle for someone so sneaky. The "tech guy" that his role was just fussed and the 'Dinosaur Veterinary Doctor" that actually studied how to treat Dinosaurs in school, I mean, who writes these scripts?
Like the movie wasn't absurd enough, the entire world gets screwed because a little girl won't allow Dinosaurs to die and go extinct. They're portrayed as good guys, but in the end, I think it is just a way to ensure there's a sequel to this movie. If you want to watch people running around and screaming, this is the movie for you. However, I think you're better of watching something with a little bit more substance.
