One Night in Bangkok Movie Review: Shilling Bitcoin in movies is now a thing

Review by @belemo · 2242d · of One Night in Bangkok

One night is an emotinal thriller that follows a night of activities that culminates in trail of murders across different places in Bangkok. The movie was set in Bangkok and featured one familiar face, and some other not so familiar faces, presumably from Thailand.

The main character was a retired military man in his late 50s from the United States, of Hawaian decent named Kai.According to the plot, kai's daughter, her husband and five year old daughter were on a trip to Thailand and then had an accident that led to the death of all of them.

The death of his daughter and her family was as a result of wrong doing by some wealthy pricks in Thailand, so he flew into town to sort out the issue. His first move was to contact an Uber or whatever Taxi company exosts in Thailand and then he moved door to door, doing some dirties.

The movie is pretty standard and straight forward but something that stands out about the character is the obvious "goodness" that he embodies. At first glance, he seems like he's genuinely a good man and so it will come as a shocker to anyone around him that he was that bad ass.

it is not a movie that will blow your mind, not even by a long shot. There was a lot of lazy acting along the way and some of those dumb ass cliches they employ in movies. For example, I can't wrap my head around how they make it seem so easy get information abotu people and also, why do they have to speak English when it is clearly not their first language.

On a positive note, it was by all measure a low budget plot and the producers didn't do anything to hide that. The fight scenes were kept short and concise(even though quite dumb), monologues kept to a minimum(even though sometimes you might dose off when they talking) and the plotholes were kept to a minimu, considering how low bar the movie was.

The best part of this movie is that the main character mentions Bitcoin for a few seconds; actually, he talked about how he converted his entire life savings to Bitcoin, and offered it to his "lucky" cab driver. It is not a movie that will be turning heads but I'd say that's decent promotion for cryptocurrency like this means it is at least worth the watch and more stunts like this will be good for cryptocurrency in the long run.

I'd say overal, the movie was flat in the middle of the scale in terms of rating and did well with all things considered. It is a movie that got to me on ann emotional level, offered a distinct plot twist that I won't share because it is the ultimate spoiler and at least, I didn't feel like I wasted my time while watching it.

Rating: 5/10
