I'm not a huge fan of Korean movies, mostly because am not a hopeless romantic and I find them uncomfortable to watch, but have had you watched Korean horror movies and their zombie movies you would really enjoy Korean movies. That's the kind of movie I love.
Colony a south Korean movie released in 2026 is a horror action movie with so much suspense and chaos. Just like the movie Train to Busan it is a zombie movie directed by Yeon Sang ho. You know one thing about rapidly mutating viruses is that they spread fast and they can be used to cause chaos and war in countries by people in high authority.
In this movie we see Professor Kwon Se jeong ,a biotechnology scientist who actually attended a conference at Seoul skyscraper. Before the sudden turn of event's that became a nightmare. This lead to the automatic lock down of the skyscraper to protect the outside from being infected.
The plot twist is very tricky . The man who is referred to as the vaccine in the movie is the character Seo Young cheol. He is a geneticist and he created the virus injected it into himself first with the vaccine before infection other with it. He is blood is very important for the cure.
This movie is special because it not the typical zombie movie we have around. The infected zombies progressed with time evolving in different stages. They became more dangerous from crawling on all fours to standing on their feet and to reading human minds. Giving of the fear of fresh danger.
The actor professor kwon Se jeong , played her role very well as the leader of the group leading the survivors. She is an intelligent and determined character who always focused on finding a way to survive. Also we have other supporting cast too like Kyo Hwan and Ji Chang wook.
Professor Kwon Se Jeong is a the ex wife of Han Kyu seong (Go Soo) The man who accompanied her to the conference because he wanted to help her , because she was looking for a better job opportunity. His current wife is also a professor who got involved in the research after her husband was infected.
I got frustrated at some point because some characters indangered others by their attitude and actions, some characters were very fragile there by dragging others back in the process. Well am happy it's kind of different from the normal zombie movies.
It's one of the best horror zombie movies I have watched this year, the zeal to survive was really high . The transgression of the development of the zombie created a new side to the movie. Being able to gathered the zombie information of an ant colony using the dress of an infected person was a brilliant Idea. But the vaccine was really the only cure although he had to be dead to stop the outbreak.
I strongly recommend this movie to all horror , zombie and suspense movie lovers you would really enjoy this. I rate this movie a 100/100.
