¡Hola, gente de internet! ¿les gustó el trailer? Yo lo amé tanto como la película, y mi meta hoy es lograr que quieran verla. Recién la vi y me pareció una joya en todo aspecto, sin más, quiero traerles la Review de El escondite.
Hey, internet people! Did you like the trailer? I loved it as much as the movie, and my goal today is to make you want to watch it. I just watched it and I thought it was a gem in every aspect, without further ado, I want to bring you the review of Hide and Seek.
Sinopsis/Synopsis
Sung-Soo (Son Hyun-Joo) es un hombre de negocios que vive en un lujoso apartamento con su familia. Tras una llamada, Sung-Soo se entera de que su hermano mayor ha desaparecido. Él va al sórdido complejo de apartamentos donde vive su hermano para descubrir pistas sobre su paradero, y allí se da cuenta de que cada puerta tiene una serie de códigos extraños. También conoce a Joo-Hee (Luna Jung-Hee) y su hija, una vecina de su hermano que le asegura que el desaparecido vecino es un Stalker. Es cuando empiezan a sucederle cosas raras a Sung-Soo y a su familia, hasta darse cuenta de que son asechados por un extraño hombre con casco de motociclista, éste atribuye los ataques a su hermano, sin embargo, no estaba preparado para la asombrosa verdad.
Sung-Soo (Son Hyun-Joo) is a businessman who lives in a luxurious apartment with his family. After a phone call, Sung-Soo learns that his older brother has disappeared. He goes to the seedy apartment complex where his brother lives to discover clues to his whereabouts, and there he realizes that each door has a series of strange codes. He also meets Joo-Hee (Luna Jung-Hee) and her daughter, a neighbor of his brother's who assures him that the missing neighbor is a Stalker. That's when strange things start happening to Sung-Soo and his family, until realizing that they are being stalked by a strange man in a motorcycle helmet, he attributes the attacks to his brother, however, he was unprepared for the startling truth.
El escondite, Hide and seek o Sum-bakk-og-jil (como es su título original), es una película de suspenso surcoreana, dirigida por Huh Jung.

La película nos enseña un juego constante de dualidad entre las clases sociales y hace una «radiografía» de las diferencias entre estas.
The film shows us a constant game of duality between social classes and makes an "x-ray" of the differences between them.
En la primera escena, se nos muestra a una muchacha que está llegando al complejo de apartamentos en el que vive (bastante sórdido y sucio) y como un «motociclista» con el casco aún puesto, se sube en el mismo elevador de la chica. Todo en esta escena y las posteriores, es tensión y miedo. Dichas escenas están muy bien logradas.
In the first scene, we're shown a girl arriving at the apartment complex where she lives (quite seedy and dirty) and how a "motorcyclist" with his helmet still on, gets on the same elevator as the girl. Everything in this scene and the following ones is tense and scary. These scenes are very well done.
Este dantesco vecino, será el antagonista y perpetrador en la película. El hecho de que a simple vista pase desapercibido (a excepción del casco que no debería llevar puesto después de bajarse de la motocicleta) y su actitud pasivo-agresiva, es lo que suele inquietar del personaje.
This Dantesque neighbor will be the antagonist and perpetrator in the film. The fact that at first glance he goes unnoticed (except for the helmet he should not be wearing after getting off the motorcycle) and his passive-aggressive attitude is what is usually disturbing about the character.
La familia protagonista se nos muestra como personas millonarias, de aspecto impoluto y sobrio, egoístas, materialistas y superficiales, lo que hace que dudes sin sentir empatía por ellos al inicio.
The protagonist family is shown to us as millionaires, with an unpolluted and sober appearance, selfish, materialistic and superficial, which makes you doubt without feeling empathy for them at the beginning.
Ambas clases sociales se juntan cuando el protagonista debe ir al mismo complejo de apartamentos sórdido de la primera escena, en busca de su hermano desaparecido. Esta traumática visita, es la cruda realidad de que ambas clases son muy lejanas, aunque por el argumento dentro de la película, también muy cercanas pues, el hermano del protagonista pertenece a esa baja clase social.
Both social classes come together when the protagonist must go to the same seedy apartment complex of the first scene, in search of his missing brother. This traumatic visit is the stark reality that both classes are very distant although, by the plot within the film, also very close because the protagonist's brother belongs to that lower social class.
Hay muchas escenas donde hacen énfasis entre la suciedad y la limpieza pues, Sung-soo (el protagonista) arrastra un oscuro pasado que le hizo desarrollar Misofobia (pánico a la suciedad y germenes, y que está íntimamente ligada al TOC) y usualmente estas escenas son asombrosas, los planos y la fotografia... todo está tan bien cuidado que casi te sientes como el protagonista en ese momento.
There are many scenes where they emphasize dirt and cleanliness because Sung-soo (the protagonist) has a dark past that made him develop Misophobia (panic to dirt and germs and that is closely linked to OCD) and usually these scenes are amazing, the shots and photography... everything is so well taken care of that you almost feel like the protagonist at that moment.
Otro de los aspectos que me gustó de la película son los giros argumentales que da, digamos que la historia en un principio te muestra elementos del misterio para que unas las piezas y te orilla a pensar que la historia va por un lado, sin embargo, hay un revés y resulta que lo que concluiste en un principio, no es como pensabas, entonces, con lo que te muestran ahora, desarrollas otra hipótesis que termina también siendo herrada, para finalmente darte una revelación que para nada te esperabas.
Another aspect that I liked about the film is the plot twists it gives, let's say that the story at first shows you elements of the mystery to put the pieces together and makes you think that the story goes one way, however, there is a twist and it turns out that what you concluded in the beginning is not as you thought and then, with what they show you now, you develop another hypothesis that also ends up being wrong to finally give you a revelation that you didn't expect at all.
Corea del Sur no es muy fuerte en películas de terror o suspenso (su fuerte son los dramas, comedia y humor) sin embargo, varios directores se están arriesgando a crear películas como estas, y Hide and seek además de tener a un director que debutó con ella en este género, también contó con muy poco presupuesto.
South Korea is not very strong in horror or suspense films (its forte are dramas, comedy and humor) however, several directors are taking risks to create films like these, and Hide and Seek, besides having a director who debuted with it in this genre, also had a very low budget.
Teniendo esto en cuenta, podemos decir que tenemos una joya de película. Claramente tiene sus debilidades porque no todo es perfecto, como por ejemplo que algunas escenas son predecibles y que al villano le faltó un poco de desarrollo, lejos de eso, es genial.
With this in mind, we can say that we have a gem of a movie. Clearly it has its weaknesses because not everything is perfect, such as some scenes are predictable and the villain lacked a little development, far from that, it's great.
Últimamente me siento más atraída por películas menos conocidas que por las grandes de Hollywood y siendo honesta, he conseguido muchísimas muy buenas como ésta y que incluso son mejores que muchas películas muy promocionadas. Honestamente les recomiendo Hide and Seek con los ojos cerrados.
Lately I've been more attracted to lesser known films than the big Hollywood movies and to be honest, I've gotten a lot of really good ones like this one that are even better than a lot of highly touted films. I honestly recommend Hide and Seek with my eyes closed.
