Hello, Internet people! This time I want to talk about this horror movie that I saw many years ago and that I liked a lot, even if it wasn't one of the best and it's not in the top of my favourite movies list, it's really quite good.
¡Hola, gente de Internet! En esta ocasión quiero hablar de esa película de terror que vi hace muchos años y que me gustó bastante, aunque no fuese de las mejores y no está en los primeros lugares de mi lisa de películas preferidas, la verdad es bastante buena.
I have to talk first of all about the photography as it is quite peculiar, mostly totally dark (for narrative reasons) but at the same time it helps with the atmosphere of the film. An almost monochromatic colour palette and a grey filter for light scenes. I find the shots splendid, some closed, some static and some close-up, which as you know, help to immerse the viewer in the feelings of the protagonists (especially when it comes to negative feelings).
Tengo que hablar en primer lugar de la fotografía ya que es bastante peculiar, en su mayoría es totalmente oscura (por argumentos narrativos) pero a su vez ayuda con la ambientación de esta. Una paleta de colores casi monocromática y un filtro gris para escenas de luz. Los planos me parecen espléndidos, algunos cerrados, otros estáticos y algunos de acercamiento cerrado, lo que como ya saben, ayuda a sumergir al espectador en las sensaciones de los protagonistas (sobre todo cuando se trata de de sentimientos negativos).
The performances were also superb, Nicole Kidman plays a splendid role, and I think the performances are responsible for avoiding tedium in the viewer as the story focuses on one house and there are only 6 recurring characters (or at least that's what happens at the beginning).
Las actuaciones también fueron soberbias, Nicole Kidman hace un papel espléndido, y creo que las actuaciones son las responsables de evitar el tedio en el espectador, ya que la historia se centra en una casa y solo hay 6 personajes recurrentes (o al menos eso es lo que pasa en un principio)
The story is quite interesting: A woman (Nicole Kidman) is in charge of her two children, who suffer from a strange illness (photosensitivity) and one morning she receives three people who will work for her because suddenly her servants have disappeared or left. Her husband has gone to fight in the war and she has no news of him.
La historia es bastante interesante: Una mujer (Nicole Kidman) está a cargo de sus dos hijos, los cuales padecen de una extraña enfermedad (fotosensibilidad) y una mañana recibe a tres personas que trabajarán para ella debido a que de un momento a otro, sus sirvientes han desaparecido o se marcharon. Su esposo, fue a luchar en la guerra y ella no tiene noticias de él.
After a series of events, Grace (the mother) begins to suspect that her daughter is behind the noises and voices that are often heard, as she says that a certain Victor is responsible, but as she investigates, Grace discovers a horrifying truth that completely changes the plot.
Tras una serie de acontecimientos, Grace (la madre) empieza a sospechar que su hija está tras los ruidos y las voces que se suelen oír, ya que ella dice que un tal Victor, es el responsable, pero a medida que investiga, Grace descubre una espeluznante verdad que cambia totalmente la trama.
The story is quite dynamic and it tackles and develops the horror very well. The mystery is very latent and keeps us on the edge of our seat, plus I will never get over the ending, it was epic and the truth is that I didn't expect it at all as the film is very slow in revealing the secrets and yet, by the time the end comes, it still surprises, it is not predictable at all.
La historia es bastante dinámica, aborda y desarrolla muy bien el terror. El misterio es muy latente y nos mantiene al borde de la silla, además de que nunca superaré el final, fue épico y la verdad es que no me lo esperaba para nada ya que la película cumple con revelar los secretos muy lentamente y aún así, para cuando llega el final, sigue sorprendiendo, no es predecible en lo absoluto.
