THE SUSPENSE GENRE IS CHARACTERIZED BY ITS POWERFUL WAY OF CONTAINING IN A SINGLE AREA A SEA OF EMOTIONS, WHICH CAN MAKE OUR HEART BEAT AND PERHAPS FEEL ANGUISH FOR WHAT WE SEE THROUGH THE SCREEN.

Ideas are as great as the one who captures them on paper or brings them to reality, knowing how to take advantage of that can lead them to success and lately great writers in the magical and huge world of cinema dream of bringing to the screen movies or series that generate a great impact on each of the viewers, with risky and innovative proposals that is what the common viewer expects to find.

🇪🇸 EL GÉNERO DE SUSPENSO SE CARACTERIZA POR SU FORMA TAN IMPACTANTE DE CONTENER EN UNA SOLA ZONA UN MAR DE EMOCIONES, QUE PUEDAN HACER LATIR NUESTRO CORAZÓN Y QUIZÁS SENTIR ANGUSTIA POR LO QUE VEMOS A TRAVÉS DE LA PANTALLA.

Cada punto de vista, opinión, o crítica es bajo mi opinión personal y no debe influenciar en lo que tú pienses o crees, somos libre de odiar o amar una película sin importar que tan aceptada o no este nuestra crítica.

Las ideas son tan grandes como el que las plasma en un papel o la lleva a la realidad, saber aprovechar eso puede llevarlos al éxito y últimamente grandes escritores en el mágico y enorme mundo del cine sueña con llevar a la pantalla películas o series que generen un gran impacto en cada uno de los espectadores, con propuestas arriesgadas e innovadoras que es lo que el espectador común espera encontrar.

As a moviegoer and a great follower of films that provide something more than a nice story, renowned protagonists or a famous director or screenwriter, I look for films that can generate in me some emotion, which allow me to grasp at first what the writer or producer wants to capture in the film.

Maybe I set the bar too high, but I need to be surprised to be connected and in tune with what I see and not just watch for 2 hours a group of people talking nonsense or a clear objective, which obviously is to entertain the viewer and not bore him before time, perhaps this thought is of the new generation that wants everything for now, but at my 30 years I have understood the value and importance of time.

🇪🇸 Como cinéfilo y gran seguidor de películas que aporten algo más que una linda historia, protagonistas de renombre o un afamado director o guionista, busco películas que puedan generar en mí alguna emoción, las cuales me permitan captar a la primera lo que desea el escritor o productor plasmas en la película.

Quizás pongo la vara muy alta, pero necesito que me sorprenda para estar conectado y en sintonía con lo que veo y no simplemente ver por 2 horas un grupo de personas hablando sin sentido o sin un objetivo nada claro. Obviamente entretener al espectador es el objetivo principal y no aburrirlo antes de tiempo, quizás este pensamiento es de la nueva generación que quiere todo para ya, pero a mis 30 años he comprendido el valor e importancia que tiene el tiempo.

Films like Gravity or The Martian, are in themselves complex in a plot sense where the resources to develop a story are practically minimal and are usually developed under a monologue, which makes the plot itself focus on a single person. This type of film achieves this very well and although they are not perfect, they know how to attract attention from start to finish, with simple dialogue and limited scenery that immerses us in a room with a single view.

Closed spaces are usually perfect places to develop a story that will be held until the end in its plot and characters or character that will give life or meaning to something as simple as a ship or a small room, where not only the imagination will play an important role, but not the story that surrounds it.

The film Oxygen although it is very different from the one I have named, has a different touch that differentiates it from these two films and that can be key to capture the attention of the general public, a story that takes place in two timelines, ie present and past and that has no more visual resources than a small space.

🇪🇸 Películas como Gravity o The Martian, son en sí complejas en un sentido argumental donde prácticamente los recursos para desarrollar una historia son mínimo y suelen desarrollarse bajo un monologo, lo cual hace que la trama en sí se enfoque en una sola persona. Este tipo de películas lo logran muy bien y aunque no sean perfectas saben llamar a atención de inicio a fin, con diálogos simples y paisaje limitados que nos sumergen en un cuarto con una sola vista.

Espacios cerrados suelen ser lugares perfectos para desarrollar una historia que se sujetara hasta el final en su trama y personajes o personaje que le dará vida o significado a algo tan simple como una nave o una pequeña habitación, donde no solo la imaginación tendrá un papel importante, sino no la historia que la rodea.

La película Oxygen aunque es muy diferente a la que he nombrado, tiene un toque distinto que la diferencia de estas dos películas y eso puede ser clave para captar la atención del público en general, una historia que se desarrolla en dos líneas de tiempo, es decir presente y pasado y que no tiene más recursos visuales que un pequeño espacio.

But there is a big problem with this movie and I say this from my personal opinion that may be totally different from yours if you have already seen this movie. It lacks an important factor which is emotions, that so essential for this kind of movies where during 2 hours or less we will see in scene only one person and maybe we have to have a conception with her or him to be interested enough to stay until the end.

Oxygen lacks in much of the film in these emotions, where they focus only on clarifying to the audience the situation they are in and how they got to that moment, which is acceptable, but does not impact enough for you to have a broader perspective of what is going on in their head and how radical or intense that situation may be.

"From this moment on, you will know a little more about what the movie is about and what I thought of it from different points of view that I will share with you in this short review".

🇪🇸 Pero existe un gran problema con esta película y lo digo desde mi opinión personal que quizás sea totalmente diferente a la de ustedes si ya han visto esta película. No cuenta con un factor importante que son las emociones, eso tan esencial para este tipo de películas donde durante 2 horas o menos veremos en escena una sola persona y quizás tengamos que tener una concepción con ella o él para poder estar lo suficientemente interesados para quedarnos hasta el final.

Oxygen carece en gran parte del filme en estas emociones, donde se enfocan únicamente en aclarar al público en la situación que se encuentra y como llego a ese momento, lo cual es aceptable, pero que no impacta lo suficiente para que tengas una perspectiva más amplia de lo que ocurre por su cabeza y lo radical o intensa que pueda ser dicha situación.

WHAT'S THE MOVIE ABOUT?

I'LL TELL YOU QUICKLY AND WITHOUT SPOILERS, IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET!

It all starts with a woman named Elizabeth Hansen played by (Mélanie Laurent), who wakes up in a small cubicle where she doesn't remember how she got there or exactly where she is, covered from head to toe with wires, a suit that emulates a cocoon she does her best to open it and tries to understand what is going on.

Elizabeth in desperation tries to ask for help, but it does not work and only the electronic voice that makes the cubicle alive is the one who has communication with her and tries to decipher through this system where she is and who she is, this is something that becomes tedious, since the questions and answers that the system can give her are few and she does not have full access to discover what is happening.

Her memories are slowly taking place in the depths of her mind, but when she tries to communicate with the outside world things become more complicated and it is difficult to understand if what she is being told is true or if her imagination is playing tricks on her. The dialogue between Elizabeth and the machine that calls itself M.I.L.O played by (Mathieu Amalric), takes shape when she discovers that she is under cryogenics and believes she understands what is going on.

🇪🇸 ¿DE QUÉ TRATA LA PELÍCULA?

¡TE LO CUENTO RÁPIDO Y SIN SPOILERS, POR SI Aún NO LA HAS VISTO!

Todo inicia con una mujer llamada Elizabeth Hansen interpretada por (Mélanie Laurent), quien despierta en un pequeño cubículo donde no recuerda como llego ni donde exactamente se encuentra, cubierta de pies a cabeza con cables, un traje que emula un capullo hace todo lo posible por abrirlo e intenta entender lo que está pasando.

Elizabeth bajo la desesperación intenta pedir ayuda, pero no resulta y solo la voz electrónica que hace vida del cubículo es quien tiene comunicación con ella e intenta descifrar a través de este sistema donde se encuentra y quien es ella, esto es algo que se hace tedioso, ya que las preguntas y respuestas que le puede dar el sistema son pocas y no posee el acceso total para descubrir lo que sucede.

Sus recuerdos de a poco van tomando lugar en lo más profundo de su mente, pero al intentar comunicarse con el mundo exterior las cosas se van complicando aún más y es difícil entender si lo que le dicen es verdad o su imaginación le está jugando una mala jugada. El diálogo entre Elizabeth y la máquina que se hace llamar M.I.L.O interpretado por (Mathieu Amalric), toma forma cuando descubre que está bajo criogenia y cree entender lo que eta pasando.

The memories are coming to her mind and she discovers that she is married and that her job has to do with what is happening, everything seems to be taking shape in her head, but she has a limited time of Oxygen that makes everything uphill and despair take control of the situation and she must fight with her mind to get out of this huge problem.

AN INTENSE SCIENCE FICTION THRILLER

Definitely not, it's not intense and it doesn't have an unexpected twist, it's really the kind of movie that after less than half of the film you can understand where it's going and draw your own conclusions which is boring because you manage to accept those predictions to a large extent.

A thriller always shows you the wrong direction and after several twists it makes you fall into the reality of its characters and simply ends up deceiving you, which you are grateful for, since it is great that they play with your senses and nothing is taken for granted. Here we only see a single line and there are no twists or at least that blow your mind.

🇪🇸 Los recuerdos van llegando a su mente y descubre que está casada y que su trabajo tiene que ver con lo que está pasando, todo parece ir tomando forma en su cabeza, pero cuenta con un tiempo limitado de Oxígeno que le hace todo cuesta arriba y la desesperación toman control de la situación y debe luchar con su mente para salir de este enorme problema.

ADVERTENCIA, PODRÍAS TOPARTE CON ALGUNOS SPOILERS, QUE NO AFECTARÁN TU VISION O IDEA DE LA PELICULA, PERO QUE SE PUEDEN CONSIDERAR COMO SPOILRS.

UN INTENSO THRILLER DE CIENCIA FICCIóN

Definitivamente no, no es intenso ni tiene giros inesperados, realmente es del tipo de películas que después que llevas menos de la mita del filme puedes entender hacia donde se dirige y sacar tus propias conclusiones lo cual es aburrido porque logras en gran medida aceptar en dichas predicciones.

Un thriller siempre te muestra la dirección incorrecta y después de varios giros te hace caer en la realidad de sus personajes y simple te termina engañando, lo cual agradeces, ya que es genial que jueguen con tus sentidos y nada se dé por entendido. Aquí solo vemos una sola línea y no existen los giros o por lo menos que te hagan volar la cabeza.

The suspense or tension can be seen in its protagonist and that is a plus, but the atmosphere that we are presented does not achieve it and it is silly to think that a small cubicle can cause that feeling in the viewer, but the truth is that it can achieve it when they know how to attack your senses, for example in the movie Gravity we can feel the despair and loneliness that feels the Dr. Ryan Stone, when she is alone in the space capsule or when she spins in the station and fails to control what happens, you can feel those emotions and here you do not get to feel something similar, you notice it in the character, but not in the character. It may sound exaggerated, but the reality is that it lacked more emotion and that feeling that can be transmitted through the screen and that is the desperation of not having control of your space and body.

MORE OF THE SAME

Every film project tries to emulate what is already in development or what was previously a great success and some decide to go new ways by doing things differently, but rarely do we come across films that blow our minds or at least play with our emotions.

A movie with an interesting idea, but not enough impact and maybe the opinion about this movie is 65% against what I think and 35% in favor, but the reality is that it's not the best of 2021 and it's far from being a great movie.

A BIT OF AN UNFAIR COMPARISON

For those of you who usually read me, you will agree that I never make this kind of comparisons in my posts, but it is the only way I have to give a clear example of why my negative criticism towards this movie and everything is developed through emotions which is where this kind of movies are focused even if they don't say it to the public, if you are knowledgeable and at least you have seen movies under the same genre you will understand what I am telling you.

🇪🇸 El suspenso o tensión si se puede ver en su protagonista y eso es un punto a favor, pero la atmosfera que nos presentan no lo logra y es tonto pensar que un pequeño cubículo pueda causar esa sensación en el espectador, pero la verdad es que si lo puede lograr cuando saben atacar tus sentidos, por ejemplo en la película Gravity podemos sentir el desespero y la soledad que siente la Dra. Ryan Stone, cuando se encuentra sola en la cápsula espacial o cuando da vueltas en la estación y no logra controlar lo que sucede, puedes sentir esas emociones y aquí no logras sentir algo parecido, lo notas en el personaje, pero no se trasmite al espectador o por lo menos en mí no causo ningún efecto.

Quías suene exagerado, pero la realidad es que le falto más emoción y esa sensación que si se puede trasmitir a través de la pantalla y es el desespero de no tener control de tu espacio y cuerpo.

MÁS DE LO MISMO

Cada proyecto cinematográfico intenta emular lo que ya está en desarrollo o lo que antes fue un gran éxito y algunos deciden ir por nuevos caminos haciendo las cosas diferentes, pero rara vez nos topamos con películas que hagan volar nuestra cabeza o por lo menos que juegan con nuestras emociones.

Una película con una idea interesante, pero que no impacta lo suficiente y quizás la opinión sobre esta película este un 65% en contra de lo que yo opine y el **35% **a favor, pero la realidad es que no es lo mejor del 2021 y está muy lejos de ser una gran película.

UNA COMPARACIÓN UN POCO INJUSTA

Para aquellos que me suelen leer, estarán de acuerdo que nunca hago este tipo de comparaciones en mis publicaciones, pero es la única forma que tengo para dar un ejemplo claro del porqué de mi crítica negativa hacia esta película y todo se desarrolla a través de las emociones que es donde este tipo de películas se enfocan aunque no lo digan al público, si eres conocedor y por lo menos has visto películas bajo el mismo género entenderás lo que te digo.

**Gravity is the perfect film to understand that playing with a single person in scene and a simple story can generate as many emotions as possible and that the story twist is present even if you think it is difficult for that to happen in a film that seems to have only one direction.

Intense scenes where the protagonist can convey those emotions and the environment or scenery amplify those emotions, like feeling the loneliness or simply being tricked by a ghost within the story that paints reality as it really is not, all these factors are unique to these movies and if you have already seen both you will understand, but if you haven't seen either of them you might find it hard to understand my point of view.

THE GOOD AND THE BAD

THE BAD

• A simple to understand script, with twists that didn't add value to the main plot, taking it down the same path.

• They don't offer what they sell, that is to say, it doesn't adjust to what the plot promises and leaves obvious space to understand the development of the film and that hurts it from beginning to end.

• A not very credible interpretation of its protagonist, who despite showing those facial emotions does not connect 100% with the viewer.

THE GOOD THINGS

• Good photography, the closed shots are good when it comes to convey the feeling of being in a small space.

• An interesting idea, with several components that put it in a good position to present something new.

• Clear story line, without unnecessary fillers, which allows the viewer to understand the story.

🇪🇸 Gravity es la película perfecta para entender que jugar con una sola persona en escena y una historia simple puede generar tantas emociones como sea posible y que el giro de historia está presente aunque creas que es difícil que eso ocurra en una película que aparenta tener una sola dirección.

Escenas intensas donde la protagonista puede trasmitir esas emociones y el ambiente o escenario amplían esas emociones, como sentir la soledad o simplemente ser engañado por un fantasma dentro de la historia que pinta la realidad como en realidad no la es, todos esto factores son únicos en estas películas y si ya has visto ambas lo entenderás, pero si aún no has visto ninguna de las dos quizás se te haga difícil comprender mi punto de vista.

LO BUENO Y LO MALO

LO MALO

• Un guion simple de entender, con giros que no le daban valor a la trama principal, llevándola por un mismo camino.

• No ofrecen lo que venden, es decir no se ajusta a lo que la trama promete y deja espacio obvio para entender el desarrollo de la película y eso la perjudica de inicio a final.

• Una interpretación poco creíble de su protagonista, que a pesar de mostrar esas emociones faciales no conecta al 100% con el espectador.

LO BUENO

• Buena fotografía, la toma cerrada son buenas cuando se trata de trasmitir la sensación de estar en un espacio reducido.

• Una idea interesante, con varios componentes que la colocan en buena posición al momento de presentar algo nuevo.

• Línea argumental clara, sin rellenos innecesarios, lo cual permite al espectador entender la historia.
