Adventures which are known as unusual experiences sometimes makes us feel like we are in another world. That may be when we experience them or when we have a little encounter with them. Also, it may be in movies. Movies sometimes makes us forget the world where we are in and leaves us to focus on the world which is being shown in the movie.
I love adventure movies. I've watched so many like The Lord Of The Rings, The electric states and so much more but for now, I'll be talking about Apocalypto, my best adventure movie that fits into this contest.
Plot
Jaguar Paw alongside his father, Flint Sky and some men encounters a group of people who were absconding from war. At night, all of them including those who absconded from war sat around a man who tells them the story of a being who loves to take every and anything in the world until the world is left with nothing.
They all slept joyfully but waking up in the next morning, they all woke in the hands of Zero wolf who has come to kill everyone in the village. As for Jaguar Paw, the best thing he did was hide his wife and kid in a well with a rope but was cut by one of Zero wolf's men but they managed to escape it while Jaguar Paw was taken by Zero wolf.
After getting to Maya, the women were taken as slaves while the men including Jaguar Paw were sacrificed to the gods and when Jaguar Paw was about to get sacrificed, an eclipse occurred which meant that the gods were appeased already. As part of the sacrifice, Jaguar was allowed to kill the son of Zero wolf and escaped.
Jaguar's escape was quite difficult and that led to the death of Zero wolf's men but finally, Jaguar Paw was able to escape and saved his family from drowning inside the well. He was also happy to see his new son born underwater. The family reunited again.
Why do I think the movie is significant or great?
It is significant because it shows what fear does to us. Remembering the words of Flint Sky, the father of Jaguar Paw, he told his son not to ever get scared and not to show his fear. If he did, he would have gotten killed by Zero wolf when he was being chased by his men.
This happens in our world as well. There are so many things which are supposed to go well and happen easily for us but when we are too scared or overshadowed by fear, we tend not to achieve them. So, fear never does anything good to us. In tough times, our bravery will save us.
What part of the movie do I find interesting?
Whenever I remember this movie, I ask myself what it would be like if Jaguar Paw was killed by the men of Maya when they killed other men as a means of appeasing the gods?
That felt like the greatest suspense in the movie. Also, when the rope was being cut by one of the Maya raiders. I wondered if Jaguar Paw's wife and kid will die inside the well but they survived and they reunited as a family.
Apocalypto is a movie that lasts for two hours and eighteen minutes. It's a movie that gives an experience and portrays how life is with some people in other parts of the world. A movie that shows how important family is and also how wars can break families.
Sometimes, people who haven't experienced war feel it's not a big deal but war is one thing that can turn a wealthy man to a slave in another country and shatter people's dreams for life.
War is a typical theme in Apocalypto. I highly recommend Apocalypto to anyone who loves to watch adventure movies and wishes for more exploration in movies. My rating? I'll give it 4/5. It's an interesting movie and you won’t regret watching it.
