Secret Superstar is an indian movie written and directed by Advait Chanda, produced Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao. The movie starred actors like Aamir Khan, Zaira Wasim, Meher Vij, Raj Arjun amongst many others. The movie tells a story of a young girl who dreams of becoming a singer and her journey to achieving this dream while trying to save her mom from her abusive father.

Insia Malik (Zaria Wasim) a young girl who loves singing and aspires to be a singer. With the support of her mom (Meher Vij) got a guitar and learned how to play from a very tender age. But against her father's decision who put little or no importance in his wife or daughter. All he (Raj Arjun) wanted was for her to finish her schooling at the level she is so he could arrange for her a boy to marry. In trying to achieve her dreams she also had to struggle with the way her father constantly abused her mom for little and silly reasons. There was a time he beat her up because the food was too salty, another time was when he asked her to wear the necklace given to her by one of her family members but unfortunately she had sold the necklace to get her daughter a laptop which she used in uploading her songs on YouTube covering her face with a burkha, a necklace which he never bought for her.
Secret Superstar is an inspiring and a touching movie, which showed the love of a mother and her bond with her kids. A mother who supported and encourage her daughter's dream right from when she was at a very tender age. She took money from her husband wallet to be able to put smiles on the face of her kids, even sold her only jewelry to get a laptop for her daughter which she used in uploading her songs on YouTube, all this she did at the expense of being abused by the unaccepting father and husband who cares little for them.
The movie also shows Insia who was ready to fight for her mom by making a plan to leave her state to meet with Shakti Kumar (Aamir Khan) to help introduce her to a lawyer so her mom can get a divorce. Not failing to mention, Chintan (Tirth Sharma) a friend to Insia who was with her all the way cheering her on and supporting her dreams.
The performance of the cast was well delivered, watching Zaria Wasim on the screen was very refreshing after her role in Dangal i was not expecting anything less. The movie won some awards including Wasim for the best actress. Meher's performance was also strongly delivered and very touching especially the scene where she made her stand at the airport. One thing people tend to forget is that everyone has their limit and when it gets to that point, they no longer care what you do. Here, it was not just about anyone but about a mother who made up her mind that instant that she had enough already, there and then she broke free from the shackles of being constantly abused which she endured because of her kids. Also, a movie by Aamir Khan in which he starred in would not dissapoint you. Aamir Khan performance added lots of spices in the movie which would make you laugh. He proved to be an all rounder with his nonchalant and rash acts which underneath those things was a good man.

The movie for me was worth watching, it tells you that one's talent can be put to use when pushed with courage. The songs used in the movie "Main Kaun Hoon" and "Nachdi Phira" were my favorite. I also like the ending of the movie when she was called out to collect an award as the secret superstar but instead she directed the award to her mom who made it possible for her to come that far, she called her mom "the secret superstar". Not just in movies now, all moms are all secret superstars in our every lives because they go through more than we can imagine to either make how dreams come true when they are not even allowed to dream or make us better person's than they are.
