The Kitchen is an American movie with a package of drama, action and crime. With a run time of 1hr 43mins, the movie starred cast like Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish and Elizabeth Moss, Domhnal Gleeson, James Badge Dale, Brian d' Arcy James, Jeremy Bobb amongst others.
The movie tells a story of three women who are married to members of the Irish mob. There's Kathy Brennan (Melissa McCarthy) the wife of Jimmy with two kids. There's also Ruby O'carroll who is married to Kelvin, the heir to the mob empire. Claire Walsh is married to Rob who is an abusive husband. These women took over operations after the arrest of thier husband having had enough of being stepped on situations they found themselves.
The movie is an interesting one with great cast, portraying the characters well they tried to show strength of women and how far they could go when been pushed to the edge. It showed how resourceful and persistent women could turn out to be if an opportunity arises which still exist in our present time.
The three women coming together became feared in the community from being a dutiful wife, an abused wife and a non recognized wife. They took matters of the Irish mafia's into their own hands, eliminating their competition and making alliances in order to hold on to power even after their husbands were released from jail.
Watching this movie i thought yeah! What a "gansteric movie" I saw something different from the usual stuff. It felt like taking a ride into the 70's with women in power, giving their male rivals what they deserve. The transformation of these women in the movie was another turn especially Claire who turns from a scared and abused wife to a killer in no time.
Although not a type of movie i'd go to the cinema for, just a watch at home kinda movie for me. But I'd still recommend it for you to see, for those who love woman power action movies you should watch this.
Thank you for reading, a good day to you!
