I hate to say it, but this movie is BAD!

Now let me start by stating what we all know is true. When it comes to directing, visuals and cinematography, Ridley Scott is a genius! As he proved with Blade Runner, Gladiator and dozens of other amazing movies, he knows what he's doing behind the camera.

But here's the thing... When a movie has 'Alien' in the title, it comes with some expectations. An 'Alien' movie should scare you, gross you out, thrill you and make you jump more than a kid that got a trampoline for Christmas! Covenant fails on all counts!

Now I know I'm in the minority when I say that I enjoyed 'Prometheus.' As a stand alone movie within the 'Alien' universe, it's a decent flick. It has a great cast, good story and a tonne of the pre-mentioned visuals. I didn't go in expecting the chest-exploding gore-fest of an 'Alien' movie.

Let me also say that the cast is great and the acting is by no means below par. But when the main star so closely resembles Sigourney Weaver's iconic character, you get excited for some Ripley-esk action! Katherine Waterston did a fine job as Daniels, but at no point do you find yourself rooting for her to kick some alien ass. Mostly you find yourself begging for her to just get off her own! At the end of 'Aliens' you're so in love with Ripley you could re-watch the movie straight away. In 'Covenant' you're so bored with Daniels you couldn't are if she lived or got blown out the airlock!

With two more sequel prequels in the making, let's hope Ridley can get back to what made this franchise the top name in interstellar screams!

Let me know what you though of 'Alien: Covenant' in the comments and stay tuned for more movie reviews and news!
