So I decided to re-watch this train wreck to see if it's actually as bad as I first thought. Sadly, it's still pretty awful, but a second viewing did improve my opinion slightly!
Somewhere in the 151 minutes of madness is a really good movie. But the addition of unnecessary scenes and confusing dream sequences, distracts us from the action way too much.
When they launches the Marvel Universe they started right from the beginning. From Iron Man's first suit, they built the story, characters and from the very begining and explained every step along the way.
DC seem to want to get straight to Justice League without putting in the hard yards first. Superman and Wonder Woman have had origin movies but Batman and the complete Suicide Squad have been thrown in without any back story.
Bringing in Wonder Woman was a good addition, however the story sidesteps to introduce Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash did nothing but confuse the story and slow down the action.
Cutting out the unnecessary side steps, dream sequences and drawn out monologues would keep the storyline flowing and make it a lot less yawn inducing!
