En la película, se comenta que desde pequeño golpeó violentamente a su hermano con un ladrillo en el cual le dieron a entender que no debe matar ya que es un pecado y recordó esa historia de de Abel y caín, por lo que se juro no matar y más bien haber el bien para la humanidad.

Pero aquí es cuando torna lo más interesante en dónde te deja una enseñanza para la humanidad entera. Llegó el día de la boda de Desmond y su amada, en el cual pidió permiso para ese día a su general, en el cual fue denegada hasta que tomara un arma y dispara pero este siguió negando se por lo lo castigaron y lo llevaron a juicio para ver si puede salir o no.
Cuando llegó el día del juicio, todos estaban en su contra pero cuando llegó el jurado, se le quedó su mente para pensar de la verdad que dijo Desmond y fue tal cual lo que comento... "Mientras todos quitan vidas, yo voy a salvarlas, en un mundo que se desgarra así mismo, yo quiero mantener una pequeña parte unida".
