The movie restrictions here are lifted, because of the covid numbers going down and thats great. You now can go to the cinema untill 22.00. With a snack before that will be a good trial night out again. So I planned an girls afternoon/early night in two weeks, so we all can see eachother again after the Covid lock down in the Netherlands. The fact that the tickets were sold out for next week was the reason we now go in two weeks. With a bigger group itβs harder to have a time you all can join. But thatβs done. We go with us 5!

Because I saw an interview with lady Gaga, for me from now on lady Gaci, I thought that this would be cool to go and see. And it was recommended, if interested to go to that movie to watch two documentaries about the house of Gucci as a brand and the family Gucci before going to the cinema. I didnβt know the story of the family behind the brand. I have a fashion background and I love fashion, so I was curious of the story and the history that was good enough to be a great movie script. A movie made by MGM ( the trailer video at the end of my blog is also courtesy of MGM ) if you havent seen it already do it here on the blog. MGM did a great job, eventhough people think the english-italian accent was disturbing. I didnβt feel that at all. Than again I am a Gaga fan!

Here I am in the comfort or a chair and blanket, watching the two documentaries about all there is to know about the family Gucci. But especially the marriage and saga about Mauricio and Patrizia Gucci - Reggiani. I never heard of before. But also the history of a brand that still matters to the fashionistas these days. I have a bag and belt, not self bought but inherited. Gucci is still a brand for people with a lot of money. Gucci is also the most copied brand, just look at the bags available on holidays alongside of the beach. The two items I have, I have no idea of, if they are real or not. I do think so ( read I like to think so )but they belonged to my mother in law so I cherish them whatever real or fake.

First this is a blog I made after watching the documentaries and making notes for this blog. So the sources are : #source

- Discovery + - I have ordered an subscription for one month $3,99 I watched :

I watched it on my iPad, and the first one by Discovery plus is 1.41 minutes and the second one by People magazine is 44 minutes long. I started with the Discovery Original, and there the leading lady is in the leading role. She is in her own Milan home, and talking , being interviewed in her home on a comfy chair. Honestly and very full of her self. She is dressed in pink and sometimes even puts on her diva Gucci ( ofcourse ) glasses, just for the sake of dram I think. And yet you are watching this scene like its the most normal life. And nbelieve be its not! Or is it ? Some moments I thought this is a reel ( instagram ) she is playing a actrice role , but no this is Patrizia in her own, relaxed way. In her own truth! She has always been this way. Maybe some would even say cold hearted, or without a hart. I say she is passionate, and did her time in prison. I would not like her in my friend zone I think, but I like passionate women. #ladiesofhive has many aswell. But preferably women not like Patricia who killed her hubby.

I donβt know if she got paid for this interview / documentary but now with the upcoming film its very good to see all that the family history brings with them. All about the brand and the fact that money is always a motivation in business and family businesses, but directly related to it, can be divisive. The outside spouses, people who are married into the family business, can be a problem. Especially when the in-laws didnt have money ( much money ) while growing up. It has become apparent from a family business study here in the Netherlands that I myself have been a part of, that outsiders , can be the reason for problems. Money is a motivator and possibly the worst motivator when in business, or family businesses. I will talk about that in another blog, but it did give me a moment that i related to.

I had this in my family and ofcourse not in the Gucci amounts and numbers, but its bad I can tell you! Its so common to fight with family in business over power, consideration, responsibility, expenses and ( spending ) money.

This is the official trailer, and in the bio you see Patricia as she is seen in the whole documentary. Nicely done hair, probably Gucci clothes and glasses, the ones I have and love, only mine are not from Gucci. I donβt have Gucci money.

The Gucciβs, and there are a lot, are seen as italian royalty. So is the brand world wide. The brands is also worn by the rich and famous. The rip offs and fake are worn buy the happy few with small budgets. We all know the holiday shirts in the souvenir shops. We go to Italy very often because of my parents and we also have been in Milano , and visited Via Palestro, the street where Mauritsio and Patrizia and their two daughters lived, before I knew all this. Milan is the best place to shop and walk through the beautiful streets.
π
Source : MGM the original trailer - AND Ridley Scott the directorI loved that in the documentary they made use of:
newspapers during the time after the murder and the trial.
they interviewed Sarah Gay Forden the author and writer of β The House of Gucciβ
I didnβt know that Gucci started out as a suitcase company. I thought that LV was alone at that front in those days. But I was wrong. They did always had parfum, handbags and jewels.
I also learned by watching that Mauritzio was brought up by a babynanny, thatβs why the bounding with dad, did not happen. Sad really because that was the reason he married to soon, to quick I think. He mistakenly saw attention for true love. And met the lady that only saw status and money. This happens much more I know but still.
The procecuter of Italy also told inside information in the first part.
Than there was the tarot reader friend (woman) Pina Auriemma was the red line in the family life and eventually also part of a bizarre blackmail thingie I never think I would be part off, how much money I would have. I just donβt get why people believe these so called βfriends of the family β who show the future through cards. But than again witches are everywhere. And believers too. I know that we in the Netherlands had a similar thing with Prince Bernhard, grandpa from our King Willem Alexander. And our Queens mother also had a tarot woman in her inner circle for advice.
Gucci was huge in USA, while in Europe in trouble. That turned around because of the Americans and their taste for fashion in the widest sence. Cool right. Now Europe is always first and , USA makes it huge when its launched there. Nowadays itβs worldwide one of the strongest brands.
π
You see the process during the documentary that Maurizio leaves Patrizia and goes for real life and a new love, if you ask me, peno pauze, but the weird thing is that fact she gave orders to have him murdered! She being his wife , and more important the mother of his two daughters. Open and all. And yes she has been in prison and paid her dues, so she can do whatever she wants or say whatever. And this was from 2020 , not especially for the movie I think. But there much have been research so she might have gotten paid for this, and that this was pre launched before the movie came to the theaters.
The second docu is in Italian. Very nice and very good built, to just show the important days in the lives from the persons that matter. I missed that the daughters were not interviewed. They know how their youth was. But maybe I am just like all the tabloids are, you want the truth if thatβs even possible from the ones the closest. They never wanted the docu, the film or the attention. Same as in the Voice , Scandals now in the Netherlands.
π
This documentary you hear Patriziaβs lawyer, a well-known Italian fashion journalist and a criminologist and profiler. Mauritzio is killed in 1995 and in 1997 Patrizia is arrested. She went to prison for almost 20 years and now lives free. Still in Milan with her pet parrot. From the docu I cannot find out if she still is in contact with family and her daughters. She looked like an older lady with two personalities, but you donβt hate her after the 2,5 hours about the Gucciβs. Well i didnβt , doesnt say I understand her.
